I've started coloring a card, to figure out how I should color it. It's still in the early stages, though.

Spade Two Color
I'm going to add some more raindrops later.

Spade Four Color
I'll add some more shade to the character later.

I'm afraid I might have gone a little to dark with the color on this one. What do you guys think?

Working some more on card five...

The main file for the Spade five card was corrupted, so I have to re-do it.
For now, I'm working on coloring Spade 10:

Still Cranking and stuff.

It's been way too long since I've worked on this, and I still want to see it completed, even if this takes me ten years. I'll start back up where I left off last.
ALso, I love GIMP's ink tool.

Although I hadn't been posting in this thread, I was actually still working on this project. I did start doing some Diamond cards a while back, but I hated how all of them came out and was too embarrassed to put them online. I still am, by the way.
Anyway, here are a few character sketches I made for that suit:

And this is an alternate view I thought about doing for the Two of spades.

If there's one thing I learned alwready, it's that I shouldn't draw the cards with the layouts on. It causes me to limit my compositions to the bottom and leaving the top of the card effectively blank.
I've been having a hard time getting lighting down. It's something I've always had issues with, and it shows in all the stuff I draw. As such, I thought it would be a good idea to sketch out where the shadows should probably be in the card picture to help me. If you guys think that's a bad idea, feel free to say so.

After a few days of drawing a few lines, staring at it, pondering it and breaking my brain over it, I finally asked a fellow artist for help. He said that I was pushing the hatching too hard and not enough on the colors. He also suggested that I work on another drawing for the time being and come back to this later.
But even without the above to worry about, I still need to find a way to squeeze two more trees in there, as I'm still trying to run with that theme. As always, crits and comments are welcome and encouraged.

Spade King initial character sketch
A nasty little scribble for the Spade's King card. I wanted to have a bearded dwarf riding a bear for it, and I'm still running with that idea. Will clean up later.

Spade King sketch and thumbnails
Scribbling...scribbling...
The number cards are still going to keep the card number = X objects in pictures, theme. But the face cards are going to be character only.
