    Wow, nice apple. But you are using that photo there right? i think you could get much more improvement and learning using life studies, like taking a real apple, placing it in your desk and painting it. You may use a controled light source or just use daylight

    Hmm, nice clouds too, is good to try those things, but try to think of those as subjects with actual form, just like an apple, clouds can be rounded, spherical, box like, and is that whaet gives them form and different shades.

    @Darkthur
    Thanks I'll definitely keep that in mind.

    In other news:
    I'm getting my scanner soon. So I won't be bothering you guys anymore with my digital escapades. It's fun to do, but it ain't my roots.

    Well I say that, but I still had this one lying about I felt like posting.
    I started with the A Arrow, and moved counterclockwise to the B arrow. See the different things I try out here and there.

    I got my scanner, update time! I'm working with Copic markers, I love them. This picture is loosely inspired by Audrey Hepburn, but I love experimenting and after some time the piece adapted to a more oriental look. I've had this lying in my sketchbook for quite a while and it's actually the first time I tried my hand at markers. So glad I got that scanner now, I'll post more later.

    Are people afraid to comment or am I not good enough for that?

    I know right, it's ridiculous! I thought this was all meant for gaining feedback on one's art but I guess I've been proven wrong heavily.

    Markers aren't that hard to use, I myself have a traditional background so that does help. Copics come with 2 tips, a brushy one and more of a sketchy flat one. You'll get used to them fast enough!

    Yes, it's sad there is not that huge amount of feedback, but I think it comes from not having too much "advertisement". That is, posting a lot in the forums, etc. That's the only way people here has to find our sketchbooks :p.
    I just keep posting no matter if people comments on mine though XD

    Now, for feedback, I think you could work with some face planes just to get them much more bold and solid, it could help you out when shading!

    Beautiful Megan Fox portrait. I see you're an anime fan, too.

    Howdy! I sympathize with the feedback thing.

    As suggested a few times, studying the planes and anatomy of the face would help you a lot. Could prol'ly kill two birds with one stone that way and help with the value studies you're doing, too. It seems you're treating the face as a disc rather than one with topography. If that makes sense.

    The face montage you posted a few posts up shows improvement in facial structure from the first drawing you posted, though there's some slip-ups here and there, like an eye placement and jawlines and such.

    For example, in http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1304482802 , the area under the eyebrow isn't just a flat plane: you can see the socket/eye brow ridge under the brow (especially when they're tweezed...).

    Anywho, keep drawing! Cheerio

    Thank you all for the responses. I really take them to heart. When it comes to constructing the face, yes I know exactly my flaws. Main problem is that it happens to the girls more often so than the male characters I draw, where I know exactly where and how the shapes go. This is also why I like to draw women more. They require more subtle touches in my opinion.

    @Darkthur:
    Thank you man. I do agree it maybe is a matter of advertisement, no doubt people would be more inclined to click on a big sketchbook rather than one that consists of maybe 2 or 3 pages.

    @Zaccrocket:
    I'm not so much a fan of anime anymore if I have to be honest.

    @Nukedtofu:
    Splendid feedback, yes. Yes I actually do, I try to be too gentle on a woman's face. I shouldn't do that to begin with. Thank you, your explanation did make perfect sense.

    Either way I'll try to paint from a photo if given the opportunity and really sit down to break down the female face.

    In the meantime some stuffs from my sketchbook, one thing I hate is that I only have 5 shades of cool grey markers. this piece probably shows that.
