Squids Incs - Now with sensible Super-costumes!

    Hallo hallo.

Welp, it looks like my long suffering partner - the Canoscan, has finally given up the ghost which means most of what I'm gonna be putting here's gonna be tablet stuff.

The first image is a quick character sketch I did. I've been trying to get the hang of drawing different ethnicities from imagination.

The second is my first big attempt at perspective since slogging it through D'Amelios 'On Perspective'
There's alot wrong with it, but I had a surprising amount of fun trying to solve the view problem. I'm definitely gonna try another piece like it at some stage

I'd love any crit and advice. Thanks

Hey thanks - that was the last scan I managed to squeeze you before my scanner carked it for good

Rest in peace little buddy. May you find better things to scan :/

I had to fudge the perspective here and there though - to get the view as dramatic as it could. I'm pretty sure someones gonna come along and point it out in a minute

Hey there, posting again real soon - I've been working on this for the last half hour and there's just something about the perspective/anatomy combination that's got me baffled.

It just doesn't look right :/

    Any suggestions?

I might be wrong, but I think the issue with the anatomy is the woman's head. With her body in that position, and with her looking up in that way, it looks like her neck should be shorter in perspective, and perhaps her head should be facing lower and looking slightly out of the corner of her eye. A normal neck won't bend quite that much.

I take the corner of the eye part back, I didn't study the image close enough. Sorry.

I think you're right - she's supposed to have her head tilted upwards, but there's definitely something slightly off about the way her neck connects to her skull.

I'll play around with it some more - otherwise I just might end up scrapping it and starting something new XD

Managed to scan in a coupla pages at uni. I wish I could have scanned in my anatomy sketches, but I usually do those in an A3 sketchbook, and I generally don't carry it around :/

Aaanywho, I found one of those really old childrens animal factbook files, and set myself the task of drawing every animal in it at least once. I've had to contrast the hell outta some of them due to the bad scan, but lemme know what you think.

And some posemaniacs stuff - first three were done in 45 seconds, and the rest in 30 seconds.

I think I'll go back to 45 in the future :/

Ah, the second ninja woman looks better, the neck seems to be better connected.

I look forward to the finished piece.

Welp, it's been awhile, but I've been trying to put in at least twenty minutes of drawing a day with debatable results. What I'm really interested in at the moment is getting the hang of colour (my nemesis D.

Any tips on selecting colours would be great. Thanks.

Haha, you're absolutely right! Generally, my drawing time gets squeezed between work/school/cooking. My sketchbook is reaching a point where I could literally stick it in the oven and serve it up for supper (It's covered in so much foodstuff/travel gunk D: )

I'm gonna try to up the ante over the next coupla months for sure though. Thanks for looking

    Hallo hallo.

I've spent alot of time lately trawling through the awesomely named Project Rooftop and thought I've give supergirls costume a re-design. It's obviously not as imaginative or striking as some of the fantastic pieces on P:R, but I thought it was about time poor super-girl got a chance to ditch the drafty skirt and opt for something more fun and fit for her personality.

I'll get round to colouring it eventually....
