    well im on vacation for a week and im trying to get used to my old wacom bamboo again (the 3x5 one). here was my 30 minute warm up tonight. If nothing else, its good practice, in the car today i did 14 pages in my sketchbook. tomorrow is another 6 hours on the road, lets see if i can top that.

    @wunts: Your critique sucks.

    @OP: One thing I've learned from observation of the best artists on this site especially is that they constantly praise and help those of us with lesser skills. Mike Butkus, Mentler, Magic Man, etc... a whole lot of them usually say something like "great work"... and it's not meant as an asspat... it's meant to keep you encouraged. Because if you have the drive and the love of drawing, you'll never let idiotic comments or anthing else get in the way of learning the craft.

    In that light, I'll say have fun and keep drawing. Try to find good instruction, and run with it. Study hard. But do drawings for fun, too. That's your fuel.

    ok, that portrait looks like a scribbly mess.
    the dead or alive girl looks like a love doll.
    the landscape looks like its melted.
    and the bikini girls both look pretty much only about 50% of what would be considered a good picture.

    now did that help?

    Use a larger brush. These small brush strokes break up the form.

    You show potential! Anatomy practice and color theory could do you some good. I suggest using posemaniacs.com for some gesture studying (30sec). There are books you can read like Loomis for anatomy also, I feel though that you learn better from actual practice than just reading and staring at anatomy. So give that a shot and just practice, practice, practice! : )

    Just took a look through your sketchbook after seeing the post you made requesting for critiques. You have some really great work! I truly enjoy the texture you bring to your digital paintings. It is something I am trying my best to incorporate in my own pieces. Though, sometimes, it can appear incomplete or sketchy. For instance, on those closest to the viewer. As in the piece with the ocean and the sky. The sky and ocean look beautiful! But the rock formation looks like a quick sketch. I would just spend a little more time on that and a few more layers to make it a bit more clear and finished. Same with the bikini pic. The background and girl in the distance looks great! But the girl in the foreground needs a bit more work. Her (physical) right fist is a little smudgy and blurry, the edges as well as the hand could be a tad more crisp. Same for the hair, in spots, and her face looks a little rushed. Anyway, hope that helps! I am no where near your skill level. In fact, I am jealous!! I hope you post more work soon~ I'm looking forward to your next artistic endeavors. :-)
