Who's your artist?

Check out his still life and figurative paintings. If there's anyone who can easily challenge the Canon EOS-70D DSLR camera with his eyes closed, it is him.

I actually have to keep convincing myself that those images are not paintings, but photos.

I do alot of cycling, i generally keep all the artwork from my favorite artists in one folder though, just because i like their work!

Iian Mccaig, Craig Mullins, Frank Frazetta and Rembrandt.... and i keep a general folder for Massive Black, since they got some sick artists over there.

What does approaching a camera have to do with making art?

Sorry, that may open a can of worms. I don't mean to dump on someone's inspiration. You don't need to reply; it's rhetorical.

I just picked up a course in Art History and I'm quickly learning how much I appreciate the Baroque period for its use of contrast and energy. Caravaggio probably just became my new biggest inspiration and it's only the first week of classes!

How can Justin Sweet not be known? Darn, just saw his work now. another fan.

But foundationally, I love Bouguereau as my classical inspiration. Followed closely by Caravaggio.

For modern artists, I follow Ryan Church and Craig Mullins.

Then there's several more in the ranks like Zhang Lu and Tae Young Choi.

Yup! Caravaggio!

I love the academism style.

Took art history last term and it left me hanging. It made me feel like getting serious about my painting skills both traditionally and digitally. Been looking at Bouguereau.

I would be hard pressed to choose between Mucha and Parrish. They are definitely my two favorite.

On a side note- I didn't know who Rob Liefeld was... HOLY GOD. I hope I never get famous before I can draw well. Because that seems to be whats happened there. Buh.

Vermeer - for his treatment of light

Bougereau - amazing colors and skin tones

Rachmaninov - most beautiful music ever written

Michelangelo - simply genius

Frederick Hart - especially his acryllic sculpture which are wonderfully romantic and dreamlike

Frank Lloyd Wright - for buildings that celebrate man and nature (I saw a recent topic that discussed designing from nature - a concept which Wright mastered)

John Lautner - and architect which Wright considered to be the second best, which tells alot when Wright considered himself the best architect who ever lived

At the moment, this person: hakusaku. I don't know anything about him/her, but! Inspiring use of colors + refreshing sketchiness that hints strongly at a practiced study of anatomy that ranges from 'anime' to 'anime-tinted semi-realism (excusing the outlandish color choices)'. Toward page 70 and onward there are some figure studies worth looking at.
