Dang these are great! Excellent anatomy and command of gesture. If I really fished for a crit I'd say to be very careful of tangents. That's not a big problem in your work at all and I can even see places it looks like you took care to eliminate them, but there are a few here and there. Also I'd say you might want to work on how you draw hair, hair seems to be the the most unrealistic element in some of these. I think that may be due to dividing it into equally sized clumps and strands most of the time. Last thing, some atmospheric perspective studies might be a good idea. Hope all that helps! Like I said, those were all pretty nitpicky, great work and I hope to see more soon!

Holy Crap I drew a lot today. I had my first request stream, actually got a lot of people which made me very happy. Basically what happened is I invited people onto my livestream and drew whatever they wanted me to draw.

All of these were done in the span of about three hours.

So far, the 3rd and 4th image in the first post are the most successful to me. You seem to have captured the action and rhythm of the figure better in those. I assume they was studies from reference, and I think more of this will help a lot. The rest of the work seem inconsistent which really isn't such a big deal since it is a sketchbook thread - but the figures just aren't as strong and it sticks out.

No, they weren't from reference. But thank you so much! I think a lot of the flow in my sketches gets lost in my more finished work. Perhaps I over work them. I will definitely work on that.

Nice pencils, the latest digitals are impressive too. Drawing on the spot is scary for me, obviously not for you. Your work is really confident and alive. :]

I need to get better at drawing from life. I think that's the one thing that will solve most of the problems I have currently. So while I'm not in a position to join a local class due to financial things (i.e No money), I guess I'll do the next best thing. Draw every picture in my copy of Erik A. Ruby's The Human Figure.

While I'm doing that, I'm gonna work a little on improving my color skills. Thinking... I have Betty Edward's book on color theory, and I can set up some still life's. Anyone have any suggestions on ways to improve and help better understand the subject?

Anyway, these were done one right after the other... LOL the first one >_<. I'm such a fucking novice I should have been doing this years ago why did I waste so much time?!

Thank you! From what I understand I seem to hit some things in some pictures and then completely miss in others. Oh well, that's what I'm here for. I appreciate you commenting.

Found some older stuff that I never finished, figured I'd post it up here. I'll scan my sketchbook tonight. Did so many gestures x__x. I will keep doing this until I get good at it, goddammit.

AAAAANNND Here's some more. I'm so boring. I got Donald Graham's book on Composition, that shit is awesome. I'm trying to read it cover to cover right now. Also got Jame's Gurney's Imaginative Realism and Color and Light... the latter has not arrived yet but the former is an AMAZING BUUK.

    Anyway, enjoy.

Hooray, an update! I like the color experimentation. I thought the fourth one was a cave at first, then I got creeped out when I saw the people. Images that you have to interact with are really cool. I looked up that book you mentioned, I think I'll get it, thanks for the suggestion!. I can't believe I didn't recognize his name, I read about him in illusion of life.

I love the bold confident lines in your work, but I tihnk you're losing that dynamic element in your finished drawings because you have such bold outlines on the outside of the figure, maybe try to emphasize some of the inner lines more - make it flow in and out of the figure, play with the line weight. just a suggestion.

    keep workin it
    ...the imperfections make it interesting...

Nothing special here. But I've decided I think I need to lay off the fucking anatomy books. I'm gonna start doing sketches from vids of body builders and such. I want to capture a body that shows real weight and mass and be able to do it off the top of my head. The books just aren't doing that for me ;<.

You know what sucks? Anxiety sucks. Maybe I feel ok talking about this here because I don't know any of you. But sometimes I'm overcome with senseless paranoia and... ah, nevermind. Art:

(I don't even know where the hell I was going with this... so gay.)

    Studies from youtube:

    My two characters being dorks:

Hooo boy I've got a ways to go.
