    ∞ Selling Trap Doors ∞ (upped. 05/20)

    SKIP THIS SHIT AND CRITiQUE MY CURRENT STUFF

    Hey everyone, I've been lurkin' on CA for quite some time, but I've finally decided to start my very own sketchbook!

    I'm 18, never took art in high school (drawn and doodled all my life), but going to school for art now (I love art, creating, and pushing myself). I'm hoping this sketchbook will help me take my art to a new level.

    I'm going to be working extremely hard, and while there doesn't ever seem to be enough coffee or hours in a day; I hope to update this sketchbook on a daily basis.

    I'm posting artwork as old as 2007, age 14-15? Just gonna pile it on.

    I take critiques very seriously, so please, do your worst, and I'll take it all into consideration.

    Oh, feel free to add me to friends, or contact me!

    Here's some Cinema 4D work, nothin' special, just the basics, but: http://www.vimeo.com/user5695134

    Cheers

    Here's the first lot (mostly from 2007-2009), lots more - more recent as well - to come!

    I need to get a better scanner as well - it butchers any detail - any suggestions for a new one?

    Just reserving a few more spots - the rose was a more recent sketch/drawing I did of a dried up rose I had.

    The Obama was a tiny commissioned work like 2 years back - paint over the original image, spent good bit of time on it - made some money - nothing political

    I'll start posting more of my digital stuff + sketches as well.

    @vikramranu - Thanks!

    More to come - with digitals + 3D

    Coloring done with prismacolor markers - you can knock out some pretty quick little illustrations with those things - took about 15 mins to do that bit

    Wow, fabulously cluttered, but somehow organized thoughts of surrealism and sexuality...pretty wonderful stuff.

    Some more work on faces would do you good, but you're working on the features now anyway.

    We can only wait for more!

    @kiwigarbage - Yeah, I've always distorted faces, etc.. and just kind of winged it, but I'm working on some Bridgman studies atm for the body, and other than sketching references or attempting to draw from imagination, I'm not sure where to look.

    Cool way to start off a sketchbook here, i really like how packed your pages are. I also dig your surreal ideas thrown in throughout. Looks like you're doing some good construction studies too. With those Bridgman studies it always helped me to draw the underlying bones for every set of muscle studies, that way i would know how the muscles attached. It also helps with proportion issues that can arise drawing straight from the book.

    neat stuff so far, keep up the studies and it'll pay off fast!

    make sure dope that as good as you get you stay true to your heart and never let the surrealism slip ;3

    from the past day/night

    30 min color study on flesh tones - reffed from a deviant art image

    set of 90 sec posemaniacs - i need a new method of constructing/looking at the body - but i'll get better regardless

    ref'd the pig down there

    i'm trying to finish out my sketchbook in a month, by the end of this month, bought some moleskin sketchbooks so i think my shading will get better, the notebook i have now is just terrible, but i dont want to waste it

    @daflom - thanks!!

    @TacoMeat - A LOT to come..please keep checking back!

    @AustenFM - it already is, and yeah i need to do some bone/face/full-body studies the most ontop of everything, thanks!

    @FootstepsBeckon - i won't, im simply doing studies now so i can contort forms even more, if anything i'll be going farther into the land of surrealism, especially with digital where i can lay ideas down fast and scrap things easier. cheers!

    Hey Dopefiend, you're a skilled artist, especially if you didn't take this in school. Probably a bonus that you didn't. School can restrict folk. You look like you're developing your own voice, which is a great thing in my opinion. I like he hands and the vagina staircase in post 1.

    Keep posting. You have folk interested in what you're doing.

    @JPW - appreciate the kind words, and i most definitely will, expect great things!

    not a very productive or inspired day - got other stuff to do) however i fixed my tablet..and im excited to start doing some real work

    but here's some more posemaniacs - i already feel 10x more confident with the wacom and they really seem to help

    and a really shitty concept - idea, execution, everything! but it's just a quick 30 min lay down of some colors and a full scene. prolly wont be visiting it again..gonna move on.

    have a few pencils, but i'll upload those later when i get my scanner situation figured out

    Nice work - keep up the studies! I'd suggest maybe doing a bit more drawing from life (public transport is a good place to draw people, cafes, libraries, museums etc).

    @NickyBeats - haha thanks(
    @drunken_drinker - thanks! will do
    @Wilko - i try..but i drive to school and i live in an area that doesn't have public commuting..taking my first ever figure drawing class this semester tho!
    @Nick Cato - thank you!
    @pixelherder - no problem, i will continue to! thankz1

    (old work) had to do an illustration of an old story - chose non other than alice in wonderland - had a weekend to do this..otherwise i would have done it in a forest as opposed to a barren desert-esque scene - bout a year old? - the camera really kills the details of the color pencil and line strokes

    + details

    NEW DRUM HEADS!!!! - i know it's not sketchbook related but i'm excited and i spend a good amount of time with them as well

    and a photo manipulation WIP - no use of warp tool - didn't know it existed now i do!! but i'm having trouble with depth of field and perspective with these manips

    More updates later tonight!
