    libellchen's sketchbook

    Hello!
Here are some of my sketches. Comments and criticism are always welcome.

The second one is a photoshop sketch from life, the following I drew at the sculpture gallery to study anatomy.

nice start - the anatomy sketch look very good for my eyes!
the connection between the leg and the torso - very nice
perhaps - I would change the direction of the hatching

ich hoffe das bild zeigt was ich meine

thanks Zauselbart! I totally see it now: the arm looks triangular instead of round (in the Transversal-Ebene).

@Goldenstripe: yeah, my brush keeps getting smaller, I know, nid optimal für flächig z male.

    1. one more muscleman from the sculpture gallery, I hope I'm improving..
    2. sketches from medical illustration class
    3. and 4. zoo sketches.

I noticed that there are many awesome digital artists around here and I hope to learn from you guys.
Any advice on my newest WIP? (the black and white one)
These are pretty much the only Photoshop-wacom-board paintings I have ever made. The umbrella girl is my reinterpretation of Albert Anker's "Dezember". The underwater scenery was done for Archaelogical Institute Zürich. It shows the condition of a certain building in the 1940ies.

@Goldenstripe: Sure, I'll keep you updated. I hope to finish it before christmas, it's a present for my boyfriend. Thanks for the link (algenpfleger cha aus!) I think I will try a harder brush and add more contrast to make it shine.

@Mr.Thorne: Thanks for the hint, I'll have a look at it.

some new zoo sketches. Yes, the detailed orangutan is not from life, the photo I took was too cute to not draw it.

    Hi there,

Just visited to your sketchbook and it looks great. especially, I love that underwater scene.
Youre definitely off to a good start but i guess you need to update it frequently (Your last piece of work posted is on November 22nd)

Also, don't forget to keep up with the anatomy studies, as well as drawing from life.

More you practice the better you'll be. so Good luck n keep posting.

the fur of the orang at the bottom of the ape sketches looks very authentic! especially the shodow below the chin.

    like all the new sketches!

Great SB dude, but I think you should do more color studies. Try to start with color, blocking in bigger areas and then defining and rendering. I've find it helpful to do this with hard round brush, Craig Mullins style
    Keep on going.

@heix33: thanks for stoping by! I looked up this Craig Mullins, he's awesome!

@zauselbart: das erste overpainting von dir ist sehr hilfreich, aber..ehm..wie soll ich das sagen.. das zweite Bild sieht jetzt mehr nach einem hämischen Dino aus, nicht mehr wie ein orangutan.. ;P

Some more zoo sketches. I force myself to use colours.

    Hey there,

Nice work. Maybe you could add more sharper detail to these pieces later. at the first glance the legs of the rhinoceros were looking bit odd but after looking at few references, i think they are okay. Little more detail on the crane would be great too.

Anyways good work mate and keep posting more.

Thanks devastacio! The legs are indeed a bit off, too short for the body I think.

I found some time to continue the WIP I posted above. I'm still not happy with the hair but I went on to the second portrait in my Dr. Horrible-wallpaper. Painted in Photoshop after some screenshots from Dr. Horribles sing-along-blog. Any advice?
