Yeah, what John_b said... and the "real-speed" video was really helpfull.
When I feel like Im uncertain in my painting, not liking some strokes, I will replay that one, as Whit does the same kind of "trial and error" as I do, almost as much... I just need to practice so my endresault gets better (i.e. train my eye so that I actually see which stroke is good)...

Just watched the demo. It was great to hear Whit's philosophies on drawing and painting. I get the feeling he is a funny motherfucker to have around. Thanks for sharing with us. Worth every penny

Thanks for putting this up for download! I remember when whit posted this in the finally finished forum i spaced out on it for about 10 minutes trying to figure out how he got such an awesome texture to it. I did the same thing with the other snowy environment of his ( http://www.brushbook.com/imagepages/02.htm ) and yeah i'm very glad to see that you guys came out with an outdoor environment of his, i can't wait to see it.

    Thumbs up Holy schmoley!

Just DL'd part 2 of Whit's mountainscape demo. Wow!! I agree that this has been one of the most helpful paint-demos I've seen in awhile.

Thank you for your offering to the art community, Whit!!

Just got both parts last night. Watched one last night and most of the 2nd at work today. Very inspirational... and within 15 mins was able to achieve somethign that looked good zoomed out Whit, despite his youth seem to be a natural teacher, and has a wealth of knowledge that belies his youth.

The only (small ) disappointment was that the included brushes are only half the job.... they are almost useless without the presets.

One could argue that we will learn more by recreating and inventing new presets. I agree.... but they would have made the download more complete.

One question. Whit constantly calls up a list of presets just to the right of his canvas... how does he do this.... at the moment, I have a Wacom key set up to call up my brushes, but I can see how presets could be more useful.

right-clicking brings up your brush list... not the presets list for the present tool. I'm starting to wonder if it's a video rendering issue... as his photoshop layout looks kinda funny (for example... should his layers palette not say 'layers' at the top?), and he always clicks in the same place. Perhaps he's just clicking on and expanding a tool presets tab that we can't actually see.

The missing titles on the palettes is a bug with PhotoShop CS3 and Camtasia. I've seen it in Jason Chan's demo and for videos from other providers. The palette is otherwise complete, just missing the title tab label.

Thanks, Whit and MB. I've got a good many environmental tuts from another company and those are very difficult to sit through more than once - this is strikingly different from that experience.

Whit is modest and incredibly skilled; he is articulate and able to communicate on a basic level, also. I really look forward to seeing more tuts from Whit. Thank you, guys.

I've bought and watched the first part - an absolutely superb demo and well worth the small cost, for both inspiration and instruction. Currently downloading the second one now - looking forward to seeing the full-sized PSD.

To those guys having problems using the brushes - it might be a compatibility problem if you're using anything older than PS CS3. I'm sure I've read somewhere that brush sets created in CS3 (which I think Whit's using in the demo) or CS4 don't work correctly with older versions of Photoshop. I don't know for sure - just a suggestion.

Anyone know if the DL links expire after awhile? I cannot find them in my email anymore and was looking to re-DL. I did email Aaron so maybe he will reply. Just curious. I hope they don't expire.

man I can't achieve that rock look using this method. I'm not saying it's not working, but mine ends up looking muddy and too much is going on. If I don't add a lot, then it doesn't look realistic enough. Video is moving too fast for me to understand what's going on.
