    The Lonely Bear, new version.

Hello again! I finally redid an old 3-page comic from a year ago. Now it's bigger, somewhat prettier and less depressing.

My other comics and illustrations here.
    Hope you liked it!

The homage to Degas on the cover is a great touch. All-in-all a really cool style. Well done.

I sighed at the sight of this comic, this was just that beautiful.
You are easily one of the best artists( in a true sense) who post here.
It may sound exaggerating, but I find it true.

    Roman,

I was one of the Judges for the Spring/Summer show for the AAC. Your work was by far the most impressive and really enjoy the artwork you create. I see very big things for you,

    Thank you, everyone!!
I'm really happy you enjoy this kind of experimental stuff, gives me faint hope that there's something more colorful than starving under-a-bridge in my future.
Bomba, It's a shame we haven't met at the Show, but thanks a million! It means a lot, especially coming from such a fantastic artist as yourself, Jason.
bhanu, you're really much too kind, thanks!
DARYL, it's open for interpretation. I decided to make the ending silent on purpose to give it a Raymond Carver/Yoshihiro Tatsumi feel and let the reader fill the space between the lines. I received this message earlier today: "And I couldn't understand anything at all in it, as it usually goes with your stories but I feel like having a few drinks after reading. Well, thank you very much indeed".
Though the percentage of people confused by my stories is growing lower, which is great. I hope one day I'll find a way to make a story that's equally weird and accessible.

I do understand how it feels. Just recently finished reading De Crecy's "Prosopopus" and couldn't understand quite a few bits of it. Felt really stupid. I guess I'll give it another try tomorrow!

I must also post a picture of a decadent bear tea mug I found in Japantown when I was about half-way through the story. How perfect is that!

    Thanks again, everyone!

oooh, I have been trying to locate it but all in vain. Where did you get your copy from?

I think its good that you dont resort to cliche ways of telling stories, all zoom in zoom out, scenic view, worms eye view and stuff. Its good that you choose to pursue it in a more personal style, even though it comes from the adoration of the likes of De Crecy and all.
It will take time for the personal to become universal, for your voice to come out and communicate properly on the surface level with the viewer. So hang in there please, I know its hard to have people tell you they cant understand your stuff, the same happens with my paintings. But as we keep at it, our works like our voices become clearer to others.
    So lets keep at it.
    Much love

It's a beautiful carried out comic. I'm really impressed with the flow and constance of style. The story is relevant and touches the points most of us worry about. Nice tackling brain cancer with a kind, pink blob.

wow that little story is incredible. Don't get me wrong the storyline is weird too! Great art, really lovely to read and each panel just keeps bringing up something interesting. Keep up the good work, I am left thinking "if i had just produced one of those panels!" May I ask what sort of artistic education you've had? Thanks!

that was great. I love your style. the only thing i would suggest is changing the term 'brain cancer' to 'brain tumor.'

I also really liked the first frame of the comic where one of the flaps of the awning is right over and tangent with the bears head. Nice subtle foreshadowing with the imagery.

bhanu I got the French edition from stuart ng books while they had a booth at Wondercon. They have tons of great BD! I bought a book by Nemiri, almost had a heart attack when I was looking through it for the first time, it's just too beautiful:

ThomasM I'm final year at Academy of Art. Before that I was an oil engineer hah.
antisphere True, I was thinking for a while how to handle it. I thought of leaving it out completely, but then thought it would be way too confusing. I'll have to think about that.

Lostcookie ah, thanks so much. Seeing replies like that makes me happy! Sent out envelopes to Drawn & Quarterly and Fantagraphics today, hope one of them will like me.. Then I'd be really really happy. If I was also paid for drawing/writing, I mean).
lourense yes, very cool! Reminds me I need to re-read Bulgakov's "Heart of a Dog".
