I just finished watching this. It was a very interesting and illuminating experience! Thank you for taking your time to produce this! The Mechanic is definitely one of my favourite paintings of yours now. That one of the Hobbit that was showed in the video is great too. On a technical note, this video shows that Massive DVD have solved some of the problems with sound they had in earlier videos, and also learned that background music can be very annoying when someones talking (this is true of the Zhanglu videos as well, the music there isn't annoying at all). So that's great!

Only a small crit about the painting itself. It wasn't until you actually painted the magnet and talked about it that i realized it's supposed to touch the torpedo tube. All along, looking at the finished painting, I had read it as the tube being several meters behind the mechanic, just outside the oval entrance to the loading bay. And when you added that structure going from beneath the tube to in front of her feet, you confused me completely. Now I don't know how to read the tube at all!
Other than that, the painting is absolutely lovely, I love the roundness of the head, and the shiny metal is just gorgeous, especially on the scratched shoulder. And the star field! So beautiful!

Regarding what you said about San Diego Comic Con, I really hope I can make it to one of those some time and meet you and all my other heroes! Thanks again!

I have only watched the first two parts so far, and I'll edit this once I have finished watching it all. It's been very interesting to watch, and there are a lot of things I never knew artists actually used or did to achieve the best effects in their paintings.
Donato makes it look so easy as well! When he is picking his colours, to me it seems like he is just picking them at random, but of course he has a lot of experience, and knows what he is doing. I also like how he describes his mixed paints as "mud" and how he explains why he is using certain colours, and explaining how it will affect the rest of the painting. It has linked a lot of knowledge from Jason's composition video for me, and shown me how other artists use this knowledge in their work.

I also have to agree that with no music in the background, it is a lot easier to focus on what the artist is saying and how he is working. Also I could hear Donato speak clearer than I have been able to in previous videos. The camera picture is very sharp and clear too, so we can see the values and subtle shifts when he is decribing them, and the secondary camera to show his palette when he mixes is very helpful as well.
Thank you for taking the time to produce this!
