The judges actually did a really good job picking the best/worst. Abdhi's portrait was hands down my favorite, followed by the other two that were picked as the top. There were quite a few that were really pretty lame, including, but not limited to, the three that were picked. That chick Nao really seems like a douche... And it's funny how most of them weren't able to deal with criticism. Actually the winners were interestingly the most comfortable and appropriate with the criticism they were given... Is that a coincidence?

Nothing I'd schedule my time around to make sure I watch. But that goes for basically anything.

I wanna shoot the webmaster of the Bravo site.

I click on Full Episode thinking I'll get a nice organized playlist instead of broken up parts (which is fine, because it's easier to view), in order. I don't get that when it plays. It jumps to whatever after one part is done.

If I click on "Full Episode" it shouldn't just take me to a page but put it as a playlist IN ORDER.

Then the other thing I want to kill them for is putting the stupid social bookmarking right under the navigation for galleries. It keeps popping up and interfering.

I swallowed my pride and watched it. It wasn't the nightmare I thought it would be. Most of the artists were okay, but only a step above mediocre, but I consider myself to be high end mediocre.

^ Seriously. If you took any random 20 people from one of the workshops they could DESTROY the artists on this show. God, I'd love to see what would happen if Andrew Jones, Carl Dobsky, Shawn Barber, etc, etc would do if they were on this show. They would smite the competition, surely!

And from another point of view, what do any of these artists have to lose??? They probably had to pay for airfare, but they get free board and meals, free studio materials, and they get to create art all day. The prize is $100,000 and a solo gallery show... Seems incredibly worth while to me. Why didn't anyone on here try out?

Because everyone on here and Massive Black and the Illustration Academy have more pride and dignity in their work and for themselves than the artist on Bravo's TV show but that's just my opinion. Granted some on the show aren't bad; such as Abdi and Erik (for being self taught he's not bad but not great either) but when it comes to 'For the LOVE of the it'. vs. 'To make money'; granted everyone wants to make money and get exposure and whatnot but I think 'For the love of it' probably would win out. In this competition it seems like it's more about money and beating each other down.

I watched the the show; granted it was entertaining but their attitudes and ego's are what pissed me off.

    Anyway, my $.02

"Because everyone on here and Massive Black and the Illustration Academy have more pride and dignity in their work and for themselves"

I'd do it if I were skilled enough, my work didn't interfere, and I could afford to get to New York. In all honesty, I'd be out by the first round. I'd love to see some of the real artists on this site join up, though. For one thing, it'd be a chance to see them talk on tv, and get a better idea of what they're like. I'd love to see Andrew Jones on this, or Daniel Clarke, ooo or Luke Hollis.

Yeah I agree with what your saying...and heck I would even love to go to New York too if I was skilled enough. I guess the only reason I said what I said was because of the way the people presented themselves on that show. It just seemed like it was bashing, bashing, and more bashing, with very little love for what they do (even if they already established themselves).

Anyway, I probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about so I'll clam up now.

Why arent' "real" artists doing this? Because this is a reality show. If your personality isn't what catches ratings then you don't belong.

Look who got eliminated in the first episode. The woman who came off the least whiny Sara Jessica Parker Sex in the City bitch in the show.

Compare it to the other piece by Judith. I could at least feel something even if it wasn't a portrait. I have now idea what "Proud Pussy" is....I thought it was someone's curtain decoration.

^this is pretty much spot on
(edit ahh crap pretty much the same statement)
Look at who the kicked first the girl with the piece that was all patterns I mean yeah it in almost no way fulfilled the requirements but it she would have made some hissie fit they would have kept her in a heart beat like Nao, (I think thats her name) her and the retard who centers all her work around the word "pussy".
I bet all the art judges are so pissed because they have their list of who they wanna kick but the producers and such wont let them for ratings.

Hulu doesn't load well and plus it's just the episode. I did read TAS' post earlier... I was able to look up more related stuff on Bravo's stie.

What's the point of hulu if it only works in America? It's like an elitist youtube or something? Hmmm, and other videos work for me on hulu, so maybe it's just this particular thing? weird.

Internet distribution rights are sold by country. Frequently, the rights for the U.S. are held by hulu, while the rights for the rest of the world are held by various local broadcasters (who may never use them).

Hulu is hogging all of the good tv shows, advertising like whores and now blocking them from other countries. What is there problem?

I was too! Most of these people had interesting ideas, maybe not the best execution. I thought for sure all of them would be unskilled conceited and pretentious 'i am an arteest' types. There may be a few of them, but obviously they were picked for the drama & bickering they are sure to ensue. But I suppose thats a staple for reality tv.

It was interesting to hear the judges. I'm afraid to say it but I think I... I actually might have learned a little bit. Really I'd be more interested seeing a show about the artists trying to improve their work and being critiqued rather than some lousy competition. But then only artists would tune in

Oh damn, I thought you were kidding!

Edit: Okay, so I just watched the first episode; it's actually not awful. I expected them to pander to the really off-the-wall pieces.. but it wasn't that bad. I am however disappointed that they didn't have a higher standard in terms of creativity... all the pieces were either off-the-wall or very traditional... nothing really in-between. Ah well, I'll watch episode 2 and see how it goes.
