Yeah boyee! Blockhead looks real good now.

Don't get fatigued by all that, you got to polish up some more sketch-ideas. I smell a portfolio brewing...

Skull looks a kinda shiny, I think you need to give more of sense of the shadow areas, or maybe there'e just to much dark rendering in the light areas, not sure.

MMA fighters look good, although the one on the left is by far the better. Love those feet!

I don't know why you don't have five stars yet. I just tried upping the tally. Maybe try some color with these studies.

Great anatomy studies! It's good that you're doing some boxers, they're pretty good for non-airbrushed photo refs. If you're wanting some more action/fighting poses I've always found browsing UFC fighting pics on Google Images great for that.

    nice wip, coming along great.
mucho fine work on the concept and details. maybe separate things more with values?
like, giving the pants a darker local value, for more contrast against the metal plates and skin?
minor crits, but his pose feels somewhat stiff to me.

You've probably been told this before, but "closed" is a really daft name for a sketchbook. I'd guess a lot of people don't look at it because they think you've just announced that you've given up.

Ditto I thought the same and got confused by the title "Closed", I was about to run in here and say. DON'T GIVE UP! But it was a false alarm, no fire here.

EDIT: ah...it's really is closed. Take a break and come back drawing.

Closed? There is no closed! Zombies will nibble your noggin while you sleep!

Armor guy looks quite good. No real flaws except the face looks a bit small. Form, anatomy, details of the equipment all look good. The concept seems solid...perhaps the pose could be more interesting. He seems a bit upbeat for a guy whose presumably intent on bloody melee combat, but that's okay.

I'm itching to see it fully rendered so you'd better have gotten that done in the past THREE MONTHS

Now get your arse over to my sketchbook and give it a good critique.

    My spiritual home

    Flaskpost, dcorc, Pigeonkill, BludHund.
    Thanks guys!

I'm not really here to post art, but I know the rules. No art no post.

So now that's out of the way.
I guess I'm posting because I have nowhere else to go and this place pretty much became the home for my thoughts.

I'm 23, still living with parents, no real job, nay-sayers trying to bring me down, I feel so hopeless. I don't even know what I'm doing any more, that dream to succeed just comes and goes as it pleases.
I find the thought of being 'mediocre' no longer so horrifying... at times even comforting.
The sense of purposelessness just becomes so over whelming sometimes, I'm not a kid any more, there's no 'go do some studies' any more. I should be taking responsibility for my life now yet I just have no fucking clue about anything.

Anyway, I will just have to keep filling this sketchbook.
A little flicker of purpose is better than none.

Good to have u back mate! I get haunted by doubts all the time too. Eventually I tried to spend fewer time worrying about it and just looked at my bad drawings in a different light: they are just one more bad drawing I have to get under my belt before I get to the point where I can draw good stuff! Check out Bobby Chiu's ustream videos for motivating talks on mentality and attitude. A few months ago I was unemplyed and was just waiting to get a job but found a lot of encouragement out of Bobby Chiu's videos and just thought 'feck it! Stop letting my mind get in the way and hold me back with doubts. Just keep drawing and as long as I keep doing it consistently then I will keep improving and eventually get there!'
    Good luck mate!
