Hey thanks guys! I really appreciate all the feedback

Bit of a rush so here is a taster of some pieces I've been workin at.

So update on the last piece. Legs+ everything that isnt the face sucks, I get too absorbed in some areas of a piece before the whole thing is planned properly

You're still going strong, though I'd like to see more environment studies ( I bet that would help you get to the next level) Keep up the great work man. And I'm curious: what is your digital painting process? I'm still trying to learn the basics of digital painting and the beginning stage is what I'm focused on learning right now. Any advice would be really helpful, and I'd appreciate any critique you could offer. Be well!

I quit art for a month to focus on my exams but I had a hard time starting again yesterday. Than I received my copy of IFX randomly opened a page and saw you on that fricking holy page. I was like nooooooooooooooooooh and than i ran up stairs picked up my tablet and just drew haha. That was awesome lol. Congratz on your second coverage. Your tip was actually quite thoughtfull and profound. Nonetheless my first pic failed but yea thanks for the inspiration (again).
Anyway now for your artwork. The girl kinda has a body prob. It's a tad to small and you start the curvature of her hips too early. That envi is really awesome. Great mood and all that. Sam's portait is incredibly well done as well. Immediately recoqnized him hehe.

    Keep on rockin'

nice stuff, the last painting is actually pretty nice, though i think the eye needs to stand out more.. you could try doing some mark or tattoo or something that leads to the eye. its really good though dont kill yourself.

I simply can't believe how quickly you evolved, dude. Seriously -- you're a huge inspiration to anybody, young or old. Your age doesn't really have much to do with it, nor does anyone's for a matter of fact. You've just proven that even if you're 10 years old, or starting up when you're 60, all you need to do is put in the time, effort, and pump out the drawings no matter how insanely repetitive it would get.

Looks like about 2 years in you did a 180 and finally figured a lot of stuff out anatomy and shading wise. Night and day at one point in your sketchbook, so crazy to look at.

"So update on the last piece. Legs+ everything that isnt the face sucks, I get too absorbed in some areas of a piece before the whole thing is planned properly"
Hah. I'm the EXACT same way. I get so focused on figuring out the face, making it look all pretty, and then find out the composition sucks and can't even get the angles right for the rest of the body or whatever. Such a pain.

Thanks for inspiring me to keep going!

it is all looking good my friend, you need to work more on environments, that last one has good technique but needs more form - a focal point!

    Hey there!
    Damn,your work is amazing(as usual).
Some questions about the pencil self-portrait:
    -How long did it take?
-How did you achieve so smooth blending?
    -AWESOME!(whoops,that's not a question)

    Cheers!

(EDIT.:I posted this when I was browsing a few pages back,I mean your last self-portrait about 3-4-5 pages back)

the w.i.p is looking good, she looks a bit short but it still looks ok, the enviro is another
story, while the colors look great there is no focal point that draw the eyes to it and the
composition as a whole is francly boring there is no object or area that pulls you into it, so do better next time

    cheers

There's no way I'm going to get through every page in this sketchbook in one sitting. But already I can see your progress and it looks like your hard work is starting to pay off. Very motivating to see someone who just stuck through it and and in just a few years, is able to make works a good as this.

    alexson cheers man

    JustinBeckett thanks dude

jeremyg0rd0n My process is kinda stupid atm, but I'm trying to refine it. I guess I just draw out the main figure in line, then block in the values of the whole scene trying to find light and shapes that works. Then I slap overlays over it to get a really shitty rough sketch. I try to limit that part of the process to 1-2 hours depending on the complexity of the image. Then I just spend anywhere from 10-30 hours painting it out and making it suck less haha. The overlays are only really used as a starting point, sometime I just don't bother, generally overlay layers look kinda shitty so I completely re-paint the image and colours as I go, just using them as a way of getting something down I guess.

jordyskateboard haha thanks man, I'm glad to hear that

Krato haha thanks, I'll try not to :p

Define. thank you very much I'm glad you can relate haha, so its not just me who does that :p

teh.meh very true, it basically has no foreground either which isn't helping :/ thanks

    midknight cheers

    RaistlinTheDarkthanks

Metal Fingers Bit of a mix of both. Its really cheap and there is a ton just lying around in my art class in college. It's a good way of just messing around with ideas, and I like the pre-toned surface . It lends itself really well to some pics.

Jovian M I wanna see that too

    cgaddict thanks man

nadzsamson thanks, glad to hear it

    r y a n o i r haha thankkeee

DSmith I'm not quite sure which one you are talking about, but in general I try to create smooth tones by slowly building up tone with light passes rather than immidiately shading to the final tone. It's hard to describe haha. Basically I keep rendering the same sections trying to hatch in the form and building up to the approriate tones. Layer your shading and try to build up whole areas evenly. I reckon the average time for those pencil things is 5-6 hours. Thanks

domo arigatoThank you very much man, that means a lot coming from you

oren90 haha yeah its a pretty boring piece, Environments are a real weak point of mine. Thanks for the advice I'll try to apply it to the next one

Dekal cheers dude, loving all your recent updates as well

    vatteh thank you man

I like the complimentary colors on the last one and the details (like the scratches on the armor, etc.)
But on the face, in my opinion I think it needs something, like at the part where the neck and face meet, the line seems too defined? Or maybe it's just me.
I also think that the blue light from the whip and armor should radiate some sort of reflective light on the armor?
I hope that didn't sound too harsh though haha, but just some nitpick stuff. Keep going Miles your a huge inspiration to me, seriously.

Ok I've just reached that conclusion that I have a friend who totally kills at painting *that being yourself of course* and that I am going to start making him teach me how to suck less at painting. Only a year too late but it's ok....

    Really nice stuff, lovely piece.

Keep it up and help me damn paint! lol

Hey guys, sorry for the absence, been rather busy these holidays.

So two little traditional efforts, the pencil approx 5-6 hours and the acrylic about 4. Probably a little scrappy for the time, still weaker with my traditional mediums. Cheers
