Orange study![]()
Just a quick speed painting of two armored soldiers.
I've gotta say, it's good that you already have a good idea of what you wanna be at age 15...plenty of time to get the practice you need. To start off, I can't stress enough how valuable it is to have a good anatomy book to study the human figure from. I suggest Constructive Anatomy by George Bridgman...did wonders for me and I'm sure a lot of people on these forums would agree.
In that first concept of yours, it's important to make the forms readable. You don't have to go crazy on detail, just hint at things. It's actually not a bad start, just push things a bit further and establish a light source. Get in some value studies too! For the orange, you actually captured it's texture quite wellJust work on the edges. The speedpaint could definitely be pushed further.
Keep up the good work! Looking forward to your pencil drawings![]()
i love the orange and im also 15years old what graphic tablet do you have and studying Loomis fgure drawing is good is helping me dramtically my sketchbook is in my Signature

Hi there,
I think you've got a good eye for lighting and colour considering your age. I can't think of anything to add besides backing up what Jackpot has said, but definitly keep it up!
I'll try check back when you've got more here![]()
Thanks for all the great replies especially jackpot for taking the time to give me some really useful advices/hints ;D, really appreciated. I'm currently using a wacom bamboo small tablet. I think the size of that you can actually draw on is around 15.5x9.5 cm/A6 paper. i would recommend it for those who's just about to start paint digitaly because it's cheap and all that but I'm thinking about buying a new one cuz it's so fricking tiny.
I've been looking around for a decent scanner and i'll order one soon, so expect some pencil drawings really soon. Thanks and stay tuned for some more PaIntings ;D.
I'm also thinking of studying some more value and lightning to get that perfect, also environment etc.
Btw keep the comments coming, they're really motivating.

Here we go, some doodles and hands.
try using longer line to define the gesture, that will result in drawings full of life
I'm still trying to learn the right values but it's hard ;P. allright here's a portrait of a monster. Please leave a comment if you like.![]()
You've got sick skill for your age, mate. Keep it up and you'll kick everyones asses in no time.
Do portraits and value studies from either real life or pictures. Also hit up some anatomy books. Aaaand, keep kickin' ass yo B)
hehe. I just wanted to thank everyone for the great respons so far
, didn't expect this much really. I'll try to keep the pieces coming so stay tuned^^. And don't forget to leave a comment/crits if you like, it really helps
. so keep them coming

Do you study anatomy? (using anatomy drawing books etc) as i think if you study the proportions and muscle structure a bit more you'll definitly improve quick.
Keep it up!
I haven't actually study that much anatomy in my years. So i better get oneI'll see if the book store have one about drawing anatomy, and I think i need to go and draw some from life, that might help a bit too. here's another painting in Photoshop.
My first attempt to draw anatomy (kinda). Tell me if you liked it or not ;P, and what i could have improved. critiques are always welcome
.
nice drawings jus the width of the legs is way to big

Hi again, definitly try to draw from life as much as you can as that is (as many say) the best way to learn form, lighting, anatomy etc. However its not always easy to find someone or something to draw so don't feel afraid of using photographs.
Here are some tutorials i've used in the past to help learn anatomy:
http://snigom.deviantart.com/art/Mal...terns-44663581
http://snigom.deviantart.com/art/Female-Anatomy-Patterns-43675502
This one is good for learning proportions using head length and more:
http://cedarseed.deviantart.com/art/...-Body-15014442
Also here are some of my practices to see if they can help:
http://glaudarien.deviantart.com/art...ches-130466455
http://glaudarien.deviantart.com/art...y-02-140197538
Here are some problems i noticed with that last anatomy piece you noticed:
The head is too small in comparison to the body (the length of the body should be around 6-8 heads depending on the size of the person) The neck is too long, or atleast looks out of proportion, and the bottom half of the body looks in a different proportion to the rest of the body.
But with all that said, it's not a bad attempt and the muscles look roughly correct.
Hope that can help you![]()
Thanks for posting those great links glaudarien, i'll start practice right away, really appreciated. And thanks for the crits too.
Your very welcome, i'll check back later once you had some more practice![]()
I might not post that much until i've got my scanner on friday. But i'll propably post something so check back.
Expect a lot of pencil sketches/drawings coming up later on, take care.
Hi Broewer, good start here! The guy from #15 looks auspicious. But I think you should try to use bigger brushes, so you can block shapes out, because your drawings look a bit "furry". Keep up the good work!
Nice work! You've got some good value skills, but you seem to be stuck in the mid-dark greys. Try to use the whole value range, and don't be afraid to put some white in those pieces. Keep at it!
Cheers![]()
Okay here's an update. I might could have worked more on this piece, but instead i'm going to practice some more anatomy. hope you liked it and i posted a posterized
version along with the original to check values and ligthning etc. allright comment and crit is always welcome. allright take care all until next time
. I think the facial structure bit could have been better and so so i'm off drawing some heads now cya all
Just wanted to thank you everyone for giving me crits or have just left a comment really appreciated, thank you. so keep them coming and i'll keep mine coming
.
just started to use more layers too and i think that ended up a better result, tell me what you think?

I love your last work with the face, keep up !
good one...! keep it up,,,!
The head is definitly a good start, the nice shadows, highlights and values used really help it to stand out from the piece. In terms of proportions it all looks good from what i can see, however definitly do a lot of head studies using lines - without the shading - just so you can firmly grasp the sizing and proportions of he head. Then when you are fully comfortable with that go in with the shading. Nice values there though![]()
Sorry for not posting that much lately just got my scanner today so , finallyi can now post my pencil drawings. So here's my first pencil drawings i'll post. two studys and two sketches. Hope you enjoy and i'll be posting more frequent from this time. leave crits or just a random comment if you want to.
Gotta practice more now and draw some random stuff, so cya.
Take care until next time.
