I've gotta say, it's good that you already have a good idea of what you wanna be at age 15...plenty of time to get the practice you need . To start off, I can't stress enough how valuable it is to have a good anatomy book to study the human figure from. I suggest Constructive Anatomy by George Bridgman...did wonders for me and I'm sure a lot of people on these forums would agree.
In that first concept of yours, it's important to make the forms readable. You don't have to go crazy on detail, just hint at things. It's actually not a bad start, just push things a bit further and establish a light source. Get in some value studies too! For the orange, you actually captured it's texture quite well Just work on the edges. The speedpaint could definitely be pushed further.

Hi there,

I think you've got a good eye for lighting and colour considering your age. I can't think of anything to add besides backing up what Jackpot has said, but definitly keep it up!

Thanks for all the great replies especially jackpot for taking the time to give me some really useful advices/hints ;D, really appreciated. I'm currently using a wacom bamboo small tablet. I think the size of that you can actually draw on is around 15.5x9.5 cm/A6 paper. i would recommend it for those who's just about to start paint digitaly because it's cheap and all that but I'm thinking about buying a new one cuz it's so fricking tiny.

I've been looking around for a decent scanner and i'll order one soon, so expect some pencil drawings really soon. Thanks and stay tuned for some more PaIntings ;D.

I'm also thinking of studying some more value and lightning to get that perfect, also environment etc.

Btw keep the comments coming, they're really motivating .

Do you study anatomy? (using anatomy drawing books etc) as i think if you study the proportions and muscle structure a bit more you'll definitly improve quick.

I haven't actually study that much anatomy in my years. So i better get one I'll see if the book store have one about drawing anatomy, and I think i need to go and draw some from life, that might help a bit too. here's another painting in Photoshop.

Hi again, definitly try to draw from life as much as you can as that is (as many say) the best way to learn form, lighting, anatomy etc. However its not always easy to find someone or something to draw so don't feel afraid of using photographs.

Here are some problems i noticed with that last anatomy piece you noticed:
The head is too small in comparison to the body (the length of the body should be around 6-8 heads depending on the size of the person) The neck is too long, or atleast looks out of proportion, and the bottom half of the body looks in a different proportion to the rest of the body.

But with all that said, it's not a bad attempt and the muscles look roughly correct.

Hi Broewer, good start here! The guy from #15 looks auspicious. But I think you should try to use bigger brushes, so you can block shapes out, because your drawings look a bit "furry". Keep up the good work!

Nice work! You've got some good value skills, but you seem to be stuck in the mid-dark greys. Try to use the whole value range, and don't be afraid to put some white in those pieces. Keep at it!

Okay here's an update . I might could have worked more on this piece, but instead i'm going to practice some more anatomy. hope you liked it and i posted a posterized version along with the original to check values and ligthning etc. allright comment and crit is always welcome. allright take care all until next time . The head is definitly a good start, the nice shadows,highlights and values used really help it to stand out from the piece. In terms of proportions it all looks good from what i can see, however definitly do a lot of head studies using lines - without the shading - just so you can firmly grasp the sizing and proportions of he head. Then when you are fully comfortable with that go in with the shading. Nice values there though

Sorry for not posting that much lately just got my scanner today so , finally i can now post my pencil drawings. So here's my first pencil drawings i'll post. two studys and two sketches.
