That is awsome!!
I have do do a concept like that fro my class, thx for the inspiration!
BTW that cave reminds me of the goonies for some reason, heheh, im must be crazy.
I'm baaack. Well temporaily. I had an amazingly nutty E3 schedule, a few days of rest and my daughters birth. Being a new parent and finding time to do these is hard. Even toughter is having your kid in your arm and using Painter! never realized what a two handed job art is ;P
I try to keep this fairly regular.

Hey thanks. Melbourne is one of the few places I have not been in Australia, but I hear it's beautiful. My bud's Aunt lives there. Thanks, again. Here's a samurai bot:

heh, thanks guys. Here's one quickie:

Many of those heads look very Evangelion inspired...but some look truly original and awsome...![]()
Oh yeah. I don't watch a ton of anime, but Evangelion really stuck with me. I'm heavily influenced by it. There's so much I get influenced by, Terada, Moebius, Feng Zhu, Doug Chiang, Peter Chan, Ed Lee, Dermot Power, Ian McCaig, and the list goes on and on. There's so much talent out there....sigh.
Here's a quickie, under forty:

Hi, quick question. At what resolution did you draw the tutorial image above, and what size pen setting did you have it on?![]()

this image. I'm having trouble understanding how you create such a smooth surface with the color. It appears as though you could actually reach out and slide your fingers along his forehead and hear "ssqqqcckkkk"
I mean, I'm partially colorblind here, so maybe I can't see all the colors here but I think it's the way you blend all the colors together from one to the next, sort of like small gradients here and there.
I am sorry to your thread, and I hope you have time to respond to everything, but I really wanted to say one more thing:
Everyone who enters this thread should look at this image. Even if the image was created hastily there was deliberate thought and attention given to every important part. No piece seems to be placed in the vein of "design" yet everything falls into a great balance. The unit on the back of the head seems to be either a battery unit or more space for inner equipment. The two hydrolic shaped valves are robotic replacements for the two tendons in the human neck that allow us to move our heads, up, down, left, or right. There's even a rubber-ish fiber threading right into the face for muscle movement and facial expressions and whatever kind of circle on the side represents an ear to some extent.[i]Originally posted by Dougbot

I would just like to say this is a great study piece for how form and function need to work to better each other and that you've created something that stimulates my brain for a little while when I look at it. I think all art should strive to make the viewer stay on the image as long as possible and you've done that.
just needed to say, that you have a very good style. I like it.
one2hit: Hey thanks man. Kent huh? That's up in my neck of the woods. Sorry to take awhile to get back on this thread. I used the guoache brush, 2 up from the bottom. Usually work at about 200 dpi.
As for the second one, I use a gray scale pic, and just overlay with airbrush, and glow fx. Thanks for the compliments.
Here's a quickie.

Hey thanks. Depends. Nothing in this thread was more than 3 hours. That War Fetus (for a deal on conceptdesignform) was about twenty minutes. Really basic though. Usually about an hour per piece. The ealrier ones were usually under forty, back when I only did them on my lunch breaks. I'll try to post more soon.
i havent checked this thread out in a while.. good shit man
I know I'm goona sound like a noob, but whats a Wacom? Is it the thing you use a stylist pen and draw on a pad that converts it onto the screen? And did you take any art classes in college/highschool? Because it seems what you are (a concept artist for gaming company?), is what I want to be when I get a little bit older. I still have time to decide what college I want to go to (im going into 11th), and I'd like to know what classes you took / what I should take to improve my skills in that area. And, BTW, AWSOME drawings. Your creativity is amazing. I think I have the mind to come up with monsters/beings like that, but I can't really put it down on paper too good.
Zeh' Qual,
Yes, that's basically what a wacom is. It's an incredibly powerful tool. It's pretty much a pen shaped, pressure sensitive replacement for your mouse.
