Not really sketchbook material, but this is all I have on me atm so I'll upload it anyways. I joined the challenge on itsartmag.com titled 'The Day We Left Earth'. I thought I would just put up some of my concepts for now untit I have something better to upload ^^ I'm trying to get more of a cartoony style in for this image, but it's not really working yet...

The two characters to the very right stand out to me the most, and I think because they just seem to have more personality than the others. Nice character concepts though!

MeganShaw - Thank you ^^ I'm doing a crowd scene so I'm trying to figure out how I would get that to work...

    Ok! Let the sketchiness begin!

Master studies is something I need to start doing, so I tried my hand at doing one last night^^ I love Bouguereau's style so I'm going to be studying a lot of his work.

I did a study of Bouguereau's Spring Breeze: Spring Breeze

This is still quite sketchy and I want to work on it some more, but here is what I have so far. More stuff to come

And here's a sketch I started yesterday (sorry about the crappy scan). I have been trying to learn to be more patient with my sketching process as my sketches usually come out quite messy. I'm also trying to change the way I think about things so that I can increase my creativity. I tend to think in very generic terms and I'm trying to break out of that.. Any tips on ways to go about doing that sort of thing?

    kittymeow84 - Thank you

    Gamart89 - Thank you

James Warren - Thank you ^^ They are so much fun to do!

Edit - xD I just realized that the top two sketches are basically flipped versions of each other *facepalm* I'm gonna work on that ^^

Here are a couple of not-so-quick sketches:

    somewhat old:

I really like this one so I think I'll work on it some more.. I was experimenting with a technique I've been trying to incorporate into my style without much success. I think I'm close to a breakthrough though!

And a hand study. I also decided to try painting without using overlay modes. It felt wierd xD

Did this for fun this afternoon so I figured I might as well upload it. I seem to have a hard time drawing cute animals for some reason.

Annnnd my pants just got too tight. Your painting is so incredibly good, so thick and smooth and brilliant. I really hope you keep posting, I'm going to be visiting often.

MoKhi - xD Thank you ^^

Well it's been too long. Just finished work on my first year 3d reel. Even though I had tonnes of fun I'm still glad that's over.. I feel so drained and listless =.= Aaanyway.. here are some WIPs I've been working on. I can't seem to get anything done. I'm very unhappy with where my style is at the moment. If anyone has any tips, please share them I'm going to work on expressions in future pieces. I just can't bring myself to care for these current paintings..

The first one is a repaint of an horrible older sketch (Link)

I like your anime-like style in painting. You should stick to one style. It would be better that way I think.

I'm in love with the ImagineFX ideas, the first and third ones, especially! The big hair is gorgeous. And my favourite.
You've got a very pretty style, post more!

A quick doodle of an OC i've been meaning to paint for aaaaageessss @_@ She's a unicorn (obviously xD) She started off as a mechanic but it's been so long since I created her that I'm not sure if I'll change that or not. I'm hoping to be able to do a full painting of her soon :3

    A a bit of pondering:

I have been wondering lately, what makes great art? Or rather, what is is about all the work produced by the various artists that I admire, that I would like to see in my own work? I seem to have come to a standstill with my artistic development in the last year, and I want to end that now. I want to push my work to the next level.. So I want to know, what do you think?

I have started to use references more. I think I need to build up my knowledge bank tonnes more. I think I also need to pay more attention to the details.. Subject matter as well. I don't think I am expressing in my art what I truly want to. I have so many ideas flowing through my mind that it's all just become a blur, and so as a result I can't seem to get any of them out of my head and down onto paper I want to end this before it turns into a long term art block. Maybe I'm just thinking too hard.. What do you think?

I really need to sort this out..

    Anyway, an art update.

    A quick sketch:

and one of numerous current WIPs:
