Growing Pains,
Very nice! I like it. Could easily be one of the snow giants from REH’s “Conan of Cimmeria” . Don’t know if that’s what you were going for.
Anyway, the main character in the painting is very cool. Looks as if you’ve done some study work below that pic. If it’s a stand alone painting then I feel than the b/g needs a little work. Just my sincere opinion. I like the snowstorm effect.
Bruce
You’ve been here since 2006 so I know you’ve been around the block a few times.
thank you very much Bruce~~ but the" b/g " means? My English is not well ,so...haha -_-b welcome you leave more~~~ thank you~^^

I like it a lot. The only details I see that may need a touch up is the character's left leg... the leg on the right side of the painting and that foot. The foot seems a little too small and the top of the leg seems a bit flat. I think you could push the shading on the top of that leg a little more.
I also agree about the background. It could use some more detail.
good luck
Growing pains,
What I was referring to was the left side mountain top and it’s only a minor thing. IMO I feel that that corner of the work needs something to drive the viewers eye back down into the painting. Snow blizzard and all I think the eye needs a barrier that will stop it and push it back down to the barbarian (the main figure). I added a little demo, hope you don’t mind. Just a suggestion.
Also with your skill level I’m sure whatever you do will turn out very good. I really like the pic.
See ya, Bruce

Thank you Bruce&wyckdnick ,I understood~~~ that's so helpful for me~ thanks ^^ and I still have one more question,do you have any suggestion about design of the role , such as clothing, decoration, weapons . It's time for sleeping, see you tomorrow~

very cool!
I like his arms proportions, no uber fat biceps, good this way.
The legs could use some tweaking IMO, The right leg looks shorter, fixing the perspective on the boot and the red pain would help here, maybe some additional shadows too.
I like the weapons, would maybe make the blades more metallic.
I would let his talisman hang, right now its floating melted with his beard. To make the talisman jump like that he would have to make a very sudden movement, jumping or running, tho his pose looks relaxed and that thing looks to heavy to be carried by wind.
The sky and the ground have exact the same color, its not a bad thing but some variation would be good i thing.
In my personal opinion, i would give the character a crisp back-light from the right side in bright blue, just so that a bit more than the outlines are affected and then add some cool lighting bolt in the background, that would add some nice dramatic effect here.
Thats just my personal taste but i would remove the hair sticking out his underwear...
Might also delete a couple snowflakes in his waist area and give the clothing more detail
The chain looks a bit flat, i would invest more time and give the rings more twist, also add some fog to the chain and shadows so it would get more depth.
cheers

He reminds me of the Norn from Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Good job.
nice one, very convinving character.
Randis already said it, but one thing that distracts me, because I assume you were going for realism, is the sharpness of the edges beetween figure and background.
the blue of the bg should influence the tones and colors there a bit. would make it more atmospheric too.
The sharpness could then be reintroduced through the lightning, so you had some really controlled and conscious rimlighting.
hope that helps a bitgood work man
really diggin' the weapon designs, nice job.

Wow,very cool illustration! I like that barbarian![]()
haha, as soon as I focus on the face, the axe in his right (our left) hand appears to be some kind of machine gun, kinda funny optical illusion
Anyways, cool piece man, show us some more![]()

Nice but the left forearm bugs me a bit, it looks a bit long and stretch.
good job on the breast and face.
Panzushot? on Barbarian? 8)
But overall it looks ok. Technique is nice but posing and designs are weak.
I'm digging the textures, colors, mood, and concept. The pose isn't working for me. The upper portion says to me he's battle ready but the bottom half seems like he's been hit by a wet towel from behind. His right arm seems to have an awkward tangent with his weapon and chain.
Make a sketchbook happy, feed it a tip to improve!
