Speed paint - Sketchbook - Sterblichkeit (update 8-17-09)

Well after showing my WWII portfolio up I was told to do more environments and studies in general. Since I'm still new at the speed painting thing. I want to make a sketch book regarding to my WWII stuff, speed paintings, and studies.

I'll try to update daily, since I should be doing a painting once a day. The first one I timed myself an hour.

Please crit what I have and what I'll update and I'll try to do the same to your own galleries.

Next image features Haydn and Rune again, though I only spent 30 minutes on this one due to time constraints on my day. I'll finish it up tomorrow.

I worked a bit more on the previous speed paint and timed myself an hour. So now this brings this piece to about 1.5 hours in total. I'll put up another one tomorrow, and possibly with different characters from the cast as well.

Looking real good, I love ww2, feel free to post more!

The only thing that kinda bothers my eye with this last image is the perspective on the left side with those bricks.

New image featuring Joachim.. and.. is that someone new? Why I think it is. Eastern front again, I spent a bit longer on this one. About an hour and forty minutes.

    EDIT: Tweaked it!

Great scenes! You definitely ARE pushing the envelope.

I have a bit of a problem with the last painting though with the man's face. Other than that nit-pick your speed paintings are fascinating =)
Just draw your ass off. Whatever you do, don't -- stop -- drawing...

Thanks for the replies guys. I tweaked the image above regarding Joachim's face. Here's my new image. I spent a bit longer on it since I kept getting interrupted all through out the day. I want to say that this is between 2.5-3.0 hours worth of time.

Adalrich was requested again, this time with the erl koing. Eastern front, 1944.

The two images bellow are quick random doodles I did on paintchat. One of Adalrich again, the other was a request by a friend to re-do Puck from Gargoyles. Both probably took me about forty five minutes.

This piece was a little harder to do due to the interior space and the subject matter (But it’s what Jenna picked so I had no qualms XD) Took me around 3 hours because of the perspective giving me trouble. Mitzi and Himmler at the eagles nest.

    Carivaggio study

I got weird yesterday and wanted to do a Carivaggio study. So I decided to done of my favorite paintings I saw while in Europe, Narcissus. It’s done in the form of Cho and Rourin again, and while they’re identical, they’re hair is different, thus the differences. I spent probably about 2.5 hours on this at 72 dpi.

This next gesture is for a commission I'm doing of an albino drow chick. The topic is kinda cliche, but I'm going to try to have fun with it. Gesture too me about ten minutes to do.

Well after I did my Puck doodle, I sort of got started on a gargoyles kick with my buddies. I wanted to try my hand at Hyena since a friend of mine did Jackal.

I never was fond of the 'frankenstein' route as Dingo put it, that most of the pack members went. So I'm sticking with the pre-cybernetic Hyena.

I might do a poster mock up of the pack if I get ambitious enough for a portfolio piece.

Hyena is (c) to Greg weisman

nice update man, i like the change in subject matter. i think the heads may be a little big in comparison to the body, noticeable in the last one. also her foot thats on the gargoyle's head should look more like the other one, leaning down i think

Thought to post up my few cheapie commissions. They pretty stylized due to what the 'look' that people tend to request for.
