Figure drawing today. I like how these came out.









I've started checking all of my drawings in the mirror for composition and anatomy errors, and it's really helped me see some things I hadn't before. It must be helping, because after drawing and inking these guys, I checked in the mirror and didn't notice as much lopsidedness as before. Someone else here will probably point out a bunch of errors I didn't see though.

Not thatt that's a bad thing - by all means, please do.

A hobo I drew before work. I was listening to Tom Waits at the time.



Dr. Alvy Roy Smith (founder of Pixar and Altamira) came and talked at my university last friday about entrepreneurship, and I doodled him while listening. He looks less crazy in real life, I promise.



I drew some people at lunch today. The lady on the left wasn't really a freakishly proportioned giant.



This last one is something from a dream I had last night about a russian temple. The rooms were all covered in sandstone panels with czars and other dignitaries smoking pipes and hookahs.

Just one drawing today. Busted out the copics and prismacolors to practice coloring. I've decided that I like copics much better.



I just picked the first two spanish words that came to my head, no particular meaning there.

for clarification, I work with this guy named Logan. He's about as hardcore an X-Box gamer as you can get. I was walking around campus to get lunch a few days ago, and came across a flyer advertising for "Logan University of Chiropractic" so I took it and gave it to him. Then, tonight at our sketch group the theme was "logan university" and this is supposed to be Logan as a university. Whew.



Mattias A., if you happen to see this, know that this is the first and only time I'll ever try using your style. It fit the theme, and I had to try it because it fascinates me.

I couldn't think of what to draw so I picked a photo from www.hel-looks.com to study. I played around with some texture and coloring, overall lots of fun. I should do these more often.

Today was a much better day for drawing than yesterday. Nothing was going right yesterday. I drew this at lunch.



And this eveningg, I went out and bought a cheap set of acrylic paints. I've always been terrified of color, so I figgure the best way to overcome that fear is to get a bunch of colors out and start using them regularly. Expect to see more color work from now on. This is pretty crappy, but it's been a really long time since I painted anything. It was tons of fun, though.

Not much today. I really like this softer graphite I've been using, I forgot how dark a line you can get without any ink.

It's been a while, so this'll be a huge dump.

I went to starbucks to sketch people over the weekend, and somehow I was the only person in the entire store. I was disappointed, but tried to make the best of my situation.



Just playing around with color, seeing how different backgrounds affect the same colors.

My faces are getting better, I feel, but they still need a lot of work. I realize the eyes on this one (and in general) are way off. That's the biggest problem I see, although I'm sure there are others. If someone would be so kind as to give me some pointers / critique / advice, I'd really appreciate it.

This last onee, I'm not happy with her face. I like the shirt, but I don't think I'm going to re do the face. It's been erased and re-drawn so many times the paper is losing it's texture. This drawing is meant to be an experiment with color (digital color, obviously I haven't done that yet) so I am going to press ahead with it right now. It's a learning process, right?

Lovin your figure drawings.

In the last picture of the girl, in the bottom left-ish corner, is that her arm? It seems kind of unclear because her sleeve is going off the page, and it seems liker her arm should be going with it.

Also, and this might be because of the perspective, but her waist seems to taper a little to much.

Other than that is looks good, I love her lips

Yeah, that's her arm. It's supposed to be by her side, with the elbow bent back a little bit behind her torso. Hopefully, the colors will make things easier to understand.
