Nice shaping up anatomy study. You will learn a lot from this kind of training even if it shows result a little late. But little by little you will understand the body better.
Keep working![]()

a couple of more sketches.. referenced it a little bit.
It looked a lot nicer in the sb.
The reference I used was this. I wanted to focus on portaits. I dont think I chose a good one..cause there wasnt alot of light source. Especially when I changed it to greyscale : /
Please feel free to give any advice on how I can upgrade this. I do have questions about the shading in regards to pencils..
This was the reference I used
Going through the bridgeman book and studying about twisting figures.
I dont know why I seem not to understand it. Its just two boxes going in different directions and you just have to draw the lines which connect the two. and the mass between the two represents the abdomen.
It feels so unnatural. This is worse than doing really hard coding or recoursion. i get it but dont get it.
I still dont get twisting figures.. going to draw a couple from imagination.. to try and see if I get it..
nice studies/sketches.
i think your understanding of anatomy could benefit greatly from going to life drawing classes... also studying how the bones of the body look and interact with the muscles to attain certain shapes. i found that as soon as i understood the muscles and bone structure underneath the skin, it was much easier to imagine the figure in 3 dimensions... and understand how the figure works in different positions.
other than that just practice, practice and more practice.
as for shading, it becomes easier if you think of the body as geometric shapes/volume.
anyways keep on practicing those drawing muscles.
Thank You Kleewyck, I did take a couple of life drawing classes last year for about a good year or so. Unfortunately I am unable to to take more due to economic reasons but. I am keep in mind on how the bones and muscles interact with the body. Thank you for reminding on how to step it up on my next sketches in regards to shading and posing.. I realize I need to do it more often to grasp and absorb the knowledge from the studies that I am doing.
Another Addition, I'll add more later on.
Great work on the human figure only thing I see wrong is the picture in post 4the neck is way too long for the rest of the picture, keep up the good work.
Working on a new picture... I've been somewhat slacking.. havent feelin well...
going to try to do more on this peice..
this is what it looks like so far.. i know i didnt add any shading or anything..

Redrew this pose and position like a couple of times.. I wanted to use the reference in the last photo in this peice. I'm going to work on this some more but some thoughts would help
Did this on the train this morning. The portrait.. i used a poor pencil.. but i liked how it looked so far... and the other is a page from bridgeman heads features and faces book.
ookie.. for the past 2 days .. i've been using up the time..which is very limited to push myself.. all this was referenced
Hey nice studies WR, besides doing more, maybe having a guide would help i saw you mention Bridgeman in IRC but i think Andrew Loomis does a better job at articulating his information and he seems to go far more in depth than the Bridge, its up to you If you want to download and if you do take is slow dont rush, read take notes and practice, that goes for anything and everything you do. Rushing to render isnt the best way, i learned that the hard way, any who here's some links to down load Andrew Loomis PDF's : http://www.placidchaos.com/AM/index....&c=1&tb=1&pb=1 you can download them as a whole set and extract with 7zip or what ever or just download what you want and you can preview each before copy and saving your choice. Hope this helps. Good luck and good studies and remember to keep it fun.
Been slagging.. did a couple of head studies from the loomis book.
Porportion Study and head study
^^;; okay.. drawing figures
some from imagination and a bit of bridgeman studies..
There is no excuse for me not to be able to draws correctly...
POST MORE!

a picture that im working on.
Pulled this photo from 3dsdk. art.. or something close to that. It was one of the free sample photos I took.
: / Looking at this photo..maybe i should've colored the base...with a harder pencil and then worked my way in with softer pencils. What do you think?
another sketch....
Coool stuff, keep up those studies![]()
Been while, very nice head studies, and figures as well. you should post more though. The las face post Is pretty good, you can see lots of improvement, that girl does have a odd proportioned face(the pic) though. Keep it up whiterose.
Its hard to choose between quality vs. quantity. I've started to anatomy studies again. Jumping between Bridgeman.. Loomis and some of my teachers notes. So this is what I have so far. Some are from memory, an some where from observation. Its funny.. how rembering the form is easy and then.. filling whats inside comes in naturally. I wonder if thats common.
I realized it has been a long time..Since I've really drawn something. So I decided to do this peice to get the momentum of me drawing again.
This was a very tough picture, due to the fact I'm not used to drawing figures.
I also noticed... it takes alot of thought and energy to put a peice together. Hopefully the next future paintings/drawings i will correct.. i wont feel the same pressure as I felt today with this one.
