Looking for stylized medieval fantasy clothes and armor

    Hey.

I have found numerous references, although not particuarly authentic, examples of medieval clothes and armor. Sadly, I cannot find any that suits my tastes.

I am interested in the designs for LotR, Valkyrie Profile, and Fire Emblem. I am also interested in dress during the late 1500's to early 1600's for a project I am working on, sadly my Google searches have been in vain. I wish to leaetrn from photo references of stylized costumes, yet not overtly so to the point of being comical.

PS: Any good reference photos that are good for practicing folds would also be wonderful.

You can find a lot of pictures of historical clothes by looking at the paintings from that time. Go to Art Renewal, go to the galleries, and browse through the 16th century artists.

Some help can also be found on Wikipedia, like this article. If you scroll all the way to the bottom, you find links to fashion of other eras. Here is an article listing different parts of medieval armor, most of them have pictures in their respective article.

And then there's CA.org's own Reference Forum. Here are a lot of threads on different subjects, and if you look around, especially on the later pages, I'm sure you'll find something.

Finally, if you have a good library nearby, I'm absolutely sure you'll find great books there, ask the librarians about nice books with pictures of armor! Even better, if you have a museum with medieval exhibitions or something like that, go there and study from the real thing!
