    Wink Sculpey Creatures(miniature sculptures)

    Hi Guys and Gals ,
i am new to this forum and the world of sculpting, professionally i am working as a 3d artist producing 3d digital models for computer games ,but i always wanted to do actual sculptures and play around with the real medium . so i started doing my first batch of super sculpey models and i am truly enjoying.i love to do creatures in miniature scale and i want to do a whole series of them.Hope you like them.i hope to get some constructive comments so that i can improve my work.i am looking for comments regarding level of detail, design and whether i can develop this into collectible industry quality.please help me out guys with your valuable comments.

Hey, thank you for posting these realy fantastic snail-characters.

You ask for comments regarding details and technique? Man, the details are great and I just wonder, which technique you use, to achive such a fine and smooth lineflow and small shapes here. Imressive.

Ok, I guess there is already a gloss finish put on them, isn´t it? They look realy fleshy. Love it.

I can only say, please show us more and I would love to see, how you work.

    Thumbs up and cheers.

    Markus

These are fantastic man ! Im really loving the textures and detail in these.

Just wondering though are you using some kind of armature for these? how do you set em up when your sculpting them?

i really like the creature in the 3rd row.

It was a pleasure seeing these!

Dished: thanks a lot for liking my work, well there is no armature for these ones only there is some wire i used for supporting the eyes of the first sculpture ,i handle these sculptures in my hand while i am doing the details.

locusta: hey thank you for seeing and liking my work, about the line flow i just build the main body first and then using simple metal spatula i do the bigger lines and then using a much slimer x-acto knife blade i do the small wrinkles and carve out shapes.i also use small balls of clay and blend them on to the main body to get some organic shapes. i will do more creatures and post also the technique in near future

After the procedure described above,do you use chemicals(wich ones) to treat the surface before baking?
    Nice work!

rvbhal: i don apply any chemicals to the sculpture before baking ...i directly bake the model and then once its done i coat the sculpture with sculpey glaze to achieve the glossy look )

These are awesome. I've thought about doing the same kind of thing myself. If you are thinking of creating a line of them to sell, and want to make molds and cast them and such, I'd recommend that you not glaze them with the sculpey glaze. That stuff is thick and will dumb down your details. You can use it on the cast copies though.

WOW!! Your work is very inspirational! Why the choice of B&W photos though? Did you paint them?

Well you can use spray clear coat, but nothing shines as well as the Sculpey stuff or epoxy.
