    Kit's Art ( Help me develop :) )

Hey guys, I have been hanging around for some time looking at all your amazing art & studies, picking up tips & tricks here and there. I am due to start Art & Design this year & I finally got my little wacom bamboo. I have been having some fun with it & here is my first little project I have done. Took me a couple of days. Please leave comments & criticism, I only want to get better More will follow soon. Thanks

a ncie start - it's good to see your process! I would say avoid using filters though, you don't learn much from using them and I'm not sure it adds all that much to the image.

What I've seen a lot of artists do is put the gradient as a background first, then build the image up from there. That way you can use the gradient to influence your shading and light source as you build up the colour, and you get a more natural result than if you use a filter at the end.

    Thanks for your replies.

Thek - Background is one thing I find quite difficult. Thanks for the tip on not using filters. I just tried it to attempt to give it a little kick, you know? I will take what you said as something to work towards. So thanks for your crit

Patience with my work is also a key factor that i need to work on, he he.

    Cool stuff.

With the first image, i'd like to see just a black and white version thing and see if you can get that metallic shading feel on it. (If it is metallic )

I'm trying to get better at my wacom as well.

Good stuff though, keep it up.

your technique for getting the right pose is really nice and loose. It would be nice to see a load more pics of you playing around with differant poses. you never know something really interesting might emerge. Keep up the work bud and stick with that wacom there a blessing even though they're a pain to get the nack of.

Hello there. Stop posting really old stuff! Would like to see more recent stuff instead.

Some nice stuff going on here. You should focus on some anatomy though. Keep on drawing and posting.

Could you please comment on your opinions of how I may be able to develop this sketch?

Her left arm to me looks wrong & I'm unsure with where to put the folds in her cloak. Crits Please

Her torso is facing to the right while the rest of her body is facing towards the left. Causes a confliction. Correcting torso should make left arm look better. Feet are pointing uncomfortably towards viewer, might want to relieve some stress for her.

I'm terrible with clothes, but when doing cape, think of a fan opening up. Should have folds converging at top (near shoulders) and fan out towards bottom.

Ok just some development on my last sketch I posted. I'm just going to leave her as she is now. Next post I should have some life drawing and/or anatomy studies to help me along with my character designs. Ok, I'm off to draw more now

Great start here MachineKit. You have gotten to a point now were you should start doing some anatomy work. Luckily for you it looks like you have a decent idea about proportions thats going to make life allot easier when your work becomes more detailed. The bambo is a great tool, don't forget that that is all it is, there is no substitute for a good old fashioned pen and paper. You should also head to Color Theory if you haven't already. Keep it up.

    Hay Machine,
thanks for stopping by my SB,

Your stuff heres going really well,
nice proportions and you've got some cool concepts going here.

But I have to agree with some of the people that have gone before me and
and say that you should start some anatomy studys.[like in your last post!]
And dude I know it seems like the whole worlds saying to study anatomy and
draw frome life, but really mate it helps...or at lest it helped me.

But your stuffs going really good and it will only get better so draw!

    good luck man,

    matt

    Autumn Witch

Hey guys, continuing to work on my witch when i get the chance out of work. First one is base colour flats & second one a tweak with colour, some basic shading and trying out different methods in which I can render her tights.

Comments on how I could continue to develop this piece would be very very welcome, Thanks.
