hey editewarming up for the grand international self portrait day tomorrow?
Unlike tom, who is totally stupid, not worth talking to or listening to because he are so noob... i would actually bring your upper value range back into the midtones and THEN pop highlights. As it stands the image has a slightly clipped effect. I would also warm up the shadows considerably (because your background is such a strong orange). The yellow you have used in the mids is a bit cool which gives her a slightly ghoulish look... she is missing the soft purples and reds of warm flesshhhhh![]()
Bring warmer tones back into the darks (like you have moreso on the neck - see how the face looks 'painted' in comparison?) Once your values are back in the mid range, you can choose where best to use those highlights.
Also, watch your edges - there is a lot happening in the lips thats drawing the eye unnecessarily and you could possibly use some softer edges there, and in the eyes. Really nice form on the eyes incidentally - you can see you have been studying them!
Final note, dont ever let me catch you copying and flipping half the face again!!! The symmetry stood out straight awayYou lazy cretin!!!
Very nice steps forward though, and a nice new depth/clarity/cohesion in your painted stuff.
Cheers big ears
