Hey im new to the forum have been looking over some of the amazing work thats been uploaded here over the last couple of weeks, so i thought i'd share some of mine and if possible get some feedback - most of the stuff im putting is from the last few years just sketches and peices ive done when bored and the uploads are just scans of pen n ink work as im not fully brushed up on photoshop yet, though i have put some drawings that ive done in flash and ive just started working in 3dsmax so i put in a few renders as well, so any advice etc. is fully appreciated

welcome to the forums
nice drawings. I especially like your cartoonish work. I wanna see some life drawings/studies, that could really help you a lot. your drawings seem to need a bit more three-dimensionality, which you can get better at by drawing from life. and you could also push the values a bit more on the pencilwork.

i havnt updated this in ages let alone even look to see if someone had replied so thank you i have been praticing (using daily sketch group) and did a load a sketches of portraits and figures from photos the other evening shown below

heres a few things ive been doing recently including my Nov 1st attempt


i quite want to finish this at some point, but got annoyed with it when i tried to do something clever with the legs and ultimatly failed

this was attempt at the dom war mini bust comp - the 3d version basicly failed but i was quite pleased with my concept

and this is a quick con of kumo from afro samuria in a SD style, im in the process of making a low poly 3d model of him for a uni project

long time no post, been busy with uni deadlines and still am just though i should upload the final model for the concept i made



also spent a few hours creating this forthe propaganda contest on tf2.com. quite pleased with it as i tried a different way of painting it that i hadnt before

i was attempting to do a daily sketch from the dsg group every day this year but failed utterly, but here are some of my favourates from the 40 odd i managed to do

just had my first life drawing lesson yesturday - was set up by a friend and were gona try and make it a weekly thing - so comments appreciated

You've got a really cool imagination man, just a matter of getting your skills to the same level. Try laying in the figure before you start working on the contours, just a quick gesture of the spine and limbs and maybe plotting some of the major masses.

The life/ref drawings are definitely pushing you forward. I'd suggest doing some quick gestures to warm up and then doing comfortably timed refs. Be sure to move inward with your line work on the body to get a sense of it's mass and that'll help you develop some more shading.

yep life drawing is awesome, helps heaps! you might wanna have a look at construction and understanding volumes/shapes, that'll help you understand things like perspective and foreshortening a lot more. there's great books on it by Loomis, you can download them in lots of places since they're out of print. And they're awesome

yer ive slowly been trying to get into some form of a warm up regime, and shading is definatly my weakness so ill try concentrating on mass a bit more

i just realsied i forgot to post this up, i did this last summer, its a 2m wide painting i did at my g/f's house, using emulsion tester pots a half inch brush at a lot of sharpies

heres my finished dissertation work, the title was investigating the transition between concept art and 3d art, so i created two characters for unreal 3 using two different workflows
first character was 'Captain Suspenders'

He used to be overweight, and got teased because of this constantly, it was also when he was given his nickname of Captain Suspenders as he had to wear them to keep his trousers up. When he had finally lost all hope of loosing the weight, he miraculously lost it, which is when he discovered his power of being able to do the thing that know one expects. Which in turn means his greatest nemesis is his own Mother as she will never stop believing in him, so the second character is his 'Mother'

and here are the finished in game models





i will be making them downloadable at some time in the near future

recently had a week at uni where we made a mod called ' thats not your camel ' More info on the moddb page here

i was one of the npc and animal leads but mainly i modelled my retarded camel concept

took 3 days start to finish to model and texture the camel

its probably my favourate creation in 3D - comments appreciated

i bought a ref skull ages ago so i could do some still life with it and finally got around to having a go, was originally just going to be a sketch but i thought i would have a practice at sketching and blending by hand, so ive forced my self to only use the brush tool, no smudging or blurring - no where near finished but im quite pleased with it - even though its more of a practice for technique

also just completed this piece recently for a competition on another forum, its judge joker a combination of the joker from batman and judge death from the judge dredd universe. i came first in this comp and won 2 tutorial DVD's hope you enjoy
