Anybody seen his younger brother's works, FX Leyendecker?... Neither inferior or superior, they're like peas in the pod with their artworks...
LONG LIVE YOKO KANNO!!!
Yeah, I've seen tons of FX in the Illustration House catalogs. Personally, I don't think he was in the same league as his older brother. I've only seen about 3 pieces I liked. And they were very flat and design-oriented without the kind of power of JC.
But if you have a couple of examples you'd like to show, post em up!

Thanks for posting those pics Kev. My jaw literally dropped in awe. I knew he was good but damn...
He doesn't get the respect he deserves IMO.
Okay, maybe he ain't as good as his older brother, but he's very capable himself:

Fantastic. Didn't he compete with Norman Rockwell?
*Bumping thread in the hopes of giving him more recognition*
When it came to my art, I went my own way and did not follow the trends.-Frank Frazetta
You don't need to bump this thread to give Leyendecker more recognition..
I was trying to find Rockwell and Leyendecker work online, but the only place that seems to have large volumes of their work is ARC.org, a place that doesn't allow you to save the images on their website. Anybody know of any other galleries like that one?
Don't know that they competed directly... Leyendecker was Rockwell's predecessor, and hugely influential on Rockwell's work. Clearly he emulated and looked up to Leyendecker.Didn't he compete with Norman Rockwell?
Does anyone know if Leyendecker ever directly taught Rockwell? Or was he more of a revered older contemporary?

Yeah, I read about that, and how much Rockwell idolized Leyendecker, but noone mentions if Rockwell was ever actually a student of... just wondering.

No, he wasn't. Lyendecker was Rockwell's idol as a student and young illustrator, but they only met after Rockwell was already established and successful. My Adventures as an Illustrator has extensive information about their relationship.
