Can I ask what materials you use? For pens, and the washes/highlights mainly?

Hi, this is my first post so excuse me if I missed the intro forum as I didn't see one so I'm guessing I can just jump in and post...
Anyhow, I've been lurking for a while and read through your books of flesh and this entire book of bones(and repostings on other sites so as not to miss something! ) and I want to thank you very much Mr. Mentler as I have learned more in the last few days than I have in the last couple months. And I haven't even had time to look through all the pics yet.
Well, just wanted to let you know how helpful you've been and how incredible your skills are. I've noticed you appreciate feedback! I'm sure I'll have some real questions soon.
EDIT: I have just a quick question or two(perhaps even a Mentler-disciple could answer). I was wondering what you think of contour drawing, as I don't usually do them and I'd like to know if you think they're important or not. Will they improve my figure drawing a lot or would my time be better spent just drawing figures?

And, what do you think of still lifes? I've heard they're helpful but I don't do 'em, instead I just do figure studies and more figure studies. So, in conclusion, I'd like to know what you think of contour and still life drawing in relation to figure drawing from the mind!

Amazing stuff... If this is published, I'm getting it! So mutch information in your work, and so mutch I still haven't seen This threat must be better than all the existing anatomy books rolled into one. I really like the way you approach figure drawing with the box and the egg. Do you have any studies/drawings where the attachment points of the muscles are in relation to the box? I've seen how you connect the two with the abdominal muscles, but I'm having trouble connecting the muscles of the legs to the box in a correct manner. I'm just guessing atm.
For the book; it would be really nice to see a step by step in which also the main muscles are clearly contructed and placed on the basic skeleton.

Ok, I'm off spending another day browsing and investigating your work
Thank you so mutch for posting this all...

I thought this had a little anatomical interest.

hi mr.mentler, first off, i would like to thank you for your inspiring measuringsystem of the humanbody. especially the cube excersises helped me a TON!! when thinking in cubes, you never lose the feel of dimension. incredible stuff. also, i share your opinion on the flaws of most common anatomy measuring systems, having landmarks on flesh, wich is variable.

now my question, when do you plan on finishing the book? iwould love to buy it, because of this thread i already learned so much. thank you and keep on kicking ass

Great work. Expressive, dynamic and alive. This is going to be a regular haunt from now on. I have just spent the last day reading through this thread, when I should have been practicing drawing. I'm sure somewhere in this post it probably says, but I'm a little overwhelmed by all the information here. Which order should I be approaching things as a beginner to life drawing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait for your DVD's and book.

I'm kind of curious- what quality of critique do you expect? I mean, I could tell you you were the next reincarnation of Jesus, that I worship you and my sketchbook is but a humble shrine to your knowledge (all of which would be true), but you get tons of that crap already. How are we supposed to help you?
    Do you Mentler?
