I decided to start my own sketchbook here because I wanted to....well, lemme put it in this way:
I guess its pretty obvious that this is direct influence of André Franquin's Gaston Lagaffe, a brilliant comic book that I don't think was ever translated into English, nor published in the States.
Here's my first entry of drawings from various references - real life, photo and other works of art. All of them, except for the hand study, originated in the last month or two. Lady in the chair and the naked man are real life drawings from my last two art classes. The lady that bends done in chalk and charcoal I did off 360 degree photo. The hand study - hand in the lower left corner is a real life reference of my own paw, while the hand and the torso doodle I copied from a drawing made by LungBug who is something like the old master of today.
The portait is a master-copy attempt from:
Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres (1780-1867)
Copy after Ingres's 1804 Self-Portrait
Oil on canvas, c.1850-1860
I did it in acrylics over a charcoal sketch on a nice thick paper. I posted a large picture as well, so that brushstrokes can be observed. Sorta self-indulgent thing...
Well, thats it for now, I plan to do more stuff, more comics, more illos, more studies, and post some old stuff along the way. I'm pretty tired now, must go to bed.
