designboot - great to hear man

    chrishly - thanks bro

alright here is a sketch I spent a while on yesterday. I scanned it in and realized that it was pretty screwed up - the way the orc's arm was crushed in behind the satyr really flattened the image, so I made a couple adjustments and I think its at least somewhat better now. Also I made a digital sketch of this concept, something I dont normally do because I have only a super cruddy 4x5 graphire tablet. But drawing digitally gives you so much freedom to use a bunch of layers and to scale and add to the image. (The first drawing is on 4 pieces of copy paper taped together btw.) So I was wondering, should I get an Intuos 3? Please tell me if you guys think that would make a difference. Thanks for reading this, feel free to crit anything.

Something about your drawing style just rules. I'm subscribing to this one. And the girls are sexy. Love the boobs flopping around. Why don't boobs flop around more in comic books? make us a comic book Achadobu!

zombie dla - thanks! ill try to keep posting...

spudstudios - thanyou. you hit the nail on the head about the colors, I know I need to work on that alot. Regarding the "jiggly appendages" you mentioned, I only seek to record the effects of gravity upon elastic tissue with whatever small fidelity I can manage. just kidding, i like floppy boobs.

ben olson - right back at you Ben. I absolutely love your suffering designs, when I saw that game I was immediately impressed by the creatures. I am honored that you subscribed to my humble thread, and I will try to live up to that. comics are great, but what I really want is to be a concept artist, since I want to be part of a team and not drawing in solitary confinement all day, plus I like coming up with new concepts better than drawing the same characters repeatedly. But I have done a little comics suff. maybe I will post it, but its pretty old...

Here is some new stuff. A "battle of nymphs and ogres" or something, kind of a free form jazz odyssey of drawing where I just put on the Allman brothers and draw whatever. Its on 5 sheets of copy paper taped. plus one more quick sketch for y'all. I know I have to work on color though (thanks for pointing that out spud) so Im going to try to cut back a bit on the drawing fest and do some character paintings. If you guys have any pointers that would be appreciated. cheers.

Jake - thanks for stopping by Jake. that is a huge compliment that you saved my sketches.

    kuNiva - thankyou!

For everyone, Ill just say that I appreciate all your comments, thanks for keeping me motivated. Ill be posting some more finished stuff soon hopefully.

I was looking at Barontieri's open canvas sketches on his site (very cool. I would recomend downloading them), and I thought I would give OC a try. So here are a couple rough sketches. I saved the event files so you can watch the process if you want, but you will need open canvas 4 to view them. (it has a free 30 day trial you can download). Im not sure if they will work so let me know.

hot tamale! you sir are without a doubt my new fave! Really great line quality and such a fullness and life to your figures and characters. I just recently picked up Open Canvas as well, it'd be an honour if anytime you wanna set up a sketch mate!

Very nice! It's hard to go wrong with monkeys and naked girls!

Seriously - you seem quite adept at revolving your characters about their axes. Good perspective and detail.

    Much enjoyed! Thanks.

    Blaz - thankyou very much!

mrgrumble - thanks for stopping by man, glad you like the characters. I checked out your sketchbook - some very cool creatures you have there and awesome paintings. It would be great to sketch in open canvas sometime, Im not sure how to set that up though, so pm me if you want.

    rgapfrost -

Truer words were never spoken! But Ill admit that this is a theme I like. I find the contrast in characters interesting. And thanks for the kind words, they mean alot to me.

kawakaze - Thanks very much for the kind remarks! It is especially encouraging that you like the paints - just as you said I want to bring my characters to life..

sorry I havent updated in a while, I was trying to get something finished to post but I ended up with a bunch of wips... Im pretty slow at painting compared to drawing.
These characters were drawn directly in painter and colored opaquely, mostly with oil pastel. I would be interested to know if y'all prefer this technique or the more transparent technique (the first couple characters in the thread) which was mostly digital watercolor. Any crits are welcome of course.

That update with the apes and the chicks with the big funbags was ace. Those various spike head dudes have given me an idea to play with too. Thanks.
