Now that we've seen the 'tried and true rebuttals' As if there is a good counter argument for why nudity/genitalia should be kept out of the sight of children...

As if there's a *good* argument for keeping it out of sight of children.

I have two boys, 6 & 8. They've seen nudes, know what "genitalia" is (omg, they have some!!!) and what it does, and why we have it, and how it works. Both of them. Six years old, and eight years old.

They're pretty well adjusted about it.

What is the answer to my question? Is there or is there not an age requirement to get into this forum?

No. Obviously if there was, you would know about it.

It is, however a professional forum. This means we deal with grown up stuff and industry standards at times.

By they way, some good points came up. Images displaying extreme violence should not be made available to children either.

Here's the flaw in your argument. You are assuming that this site is pandering to children. It is not. Conceptart.org, as noted by it's name, is geared primarily towards concept art for games and movies. It provides a format for artists to hone their skills with activities such as Last Man Standing, CHOW, COW and other weekly activities so that they may build a portfolio to present to prospective employers.

Speaking as a parent, it is the parent's responsibility to know their children well enough to understand what that child can and can not intellectually handle at a given time. This is not an easy process. But it is not accomplished through outright sheltering of child from something that you are not comfortable with.

And, sure, it's the internet. So why should anyone assume a role of leadership in an area such as this, when it's so much easier to pass the blame to someone else?

Right. Just like you are doing. As noted above, this is a professional forum with people from all walks of life who love art and all aspects of art, including nudes and genitalia.

If this is something that you are uncomfortable with, you have no right to make a crusade of your time and interfere with what is being done here. No one is making you log in and complain other than yourself.

If this site is something you do not support, that is fine. Please go elsewhere.

It contains niether nudity or violence...but if you come to the table with understanding, it could be considered highly offensive. I am a Chrisitian, and I believe in a God with a sense of humor (my Minister says so), and I think he made me the way I am. He gave me freewill to go where I choose, and do what I choose, and exercise the gifts he gave me...

Please let me know if you find this offensive to children...I expect you to not have an understanding of the mechanism, so any input you have would be enlightening.

I find it interesting that IronOtaku used his/her first 2 posts since registering over 3 years ago to bring up a morality discussion in the LMSTD2 thread. Surely you've seen nudity and violence in the last 3 years of lurking on internet art forums?

Evey child can access the internet, so it's only right that we deprive ourselves of self-expression, artistic or otherwise, to save the children senses. No young child should be allowed to browse the internet unsupervized, and keeping your adolescent child oblivious to the world by defending his senses with a zealous morality instead of teaching him about issues that arise will only hinder his development.

Relax, enjoy the art if you can appreciate it, and go with the flow.

I don't see why you're even deigning to provide ironotaku with a counter-argument in light of the fact that he hasn't even provided an argument.

As an aside, the profusion of parts most private in the last round was statistically surprising. I suspect 'spooky action at a distance'. In times of need of great art the CA gestalt consciousness kicks into gear and provides in mysterious ways.

In closing - ironotaku - fuck you. If you can't even slip in an actual reason why children should be protected from art, well then you've wasted the five minutes of my life I took off to lament your throbbing stupidity, and that's a tragedy. If you're a troll, well then carry on elsewhere. If you're a CA regular in a cunning disguise, I suggest you find something that's not a fundamental pillar of art to joke around with.

IronOtaku got me thinking. I was in the shower this morning and decided to finely look down for the first time in 31 years. I was taken aback, there in my own house was a disguting penis. I'm thankful I didn't have a mirror handy in the shower, because I was tempted to look at my anus.

I also began to wonder if there's an age requirement to read the Bible. That book is filled with violent and pornographic filth.

Truth be told im surprised there isnt a lot more nudity here.

I would rather have my son a little confused about naked bodies in a early age and not as an adult sitting in a dark corner ashamed of all these horrible feelings and sences going trough his body. Trying to hide the facts of life to children will only produce fucked up grown ups later on.

Pokemon are anatomically complete and then some. At least they were in the Gold/Silver versions, where every kind of Pokemon could breed with every other kind of pokemon. Amazing how mammals can mate with insects and mollusks and whatnot and still produce fertile offspring.

well i was serious, just being sort of sarcastic.
I bought the game and returned it for a fll money cash back in about 3 hours after I played it.

Its funny because I pick it up, and its so linear, no attacks or breeding or anything. Hollow, complete and utter sh!t.
Its a horrible game and i hope no one plays it.

The new one where you are an actual trainer which is coming to Japan soon should be good, but the dungeon one sucks lol

Yeah, the pokemon games are far too linear, needs to be more like... Sim-Pokémon, all sandboxy and stuff. About 1 in 20 designs are good, and they really need to be more consistant with the evolution designs so it looks like they are anatomically morphed.

Thank you for raising that important point evildisco.
I would like to lodge a formal complaint about that. This forum is open to adults and, said adults who are looking for Pr0n should not be subjected to Pokemon.
I understand that this is the internet and there is no single responsible entity but we should take the high road and not pass the blame on to others.
