This started out as two seperate 3D model projects done in 3D Studio Max and Z-Brush about 2 years apart from eachother. Then I was inspired to combine them and I ended up doing a lot of touch up in Photoshop as well to bring the picture together.

I am a big fan of CS Lewis and am currently reading one of his books.
are you useing colored lights and shadows? the image has that 'dirty grey look' to it right now. To remedy this might I suggest putting a soft, mostly transparent base color over the top, then painting more over the top of that with several choice colors. You need to work on giving the image homogeneity.
The bookshelf is low resolution with jpg archives while the city is very crisp and detailed. I might even consider removing the city or re arranging it and making it more visible.
CS lewis himself has good anatomy, you should paint in more detail on that lion, sharpen its edges and paint a subtle sheen on that oily fur. Be sure to pay much attention to detail in the lions eye, if the eyes looks good, it makes up for many other things. Keep working at it. excellent quote. this piece has potential
