Nice work, you've got a method of painting that I've never seen before. Just as a note, some bits you've got highlighted in the reference grid don't match up to your piece, and the hair on the left of her face (relative to us) seems to be growing out of nowhere as opposed to from her scalp. Otherwise, great work!

might i suggest working from a better photo. that one looks like it was shot with the flash, which is pretty much the worst lighting there is, it eliminates shadows and makes your painting look flat. you need a larger, crisp photo with a full range of value. I think that you have the right idea, and your approach seems fine, you just need better reference

you can make her nose a bit sharper too and there are some other lines on her neck that i think you have gotten confused on a bit and her chin can be a lot rounder too, and just a thought but i would maybe get rid of that earing or draw something a little less complicated than that in her ear and the reference for that earing is horrible man, it's not even worth attempting.

Try to get rid of the outlines unless you are drawing a comics style portrait. There's too much space between the nose and upper lips. The chin is slightly short, but thrust forward too much. The jawline is too long.

nofingers : Yes, I know flash!!!! GRRrrr.. but I really liked the picture and I thought it had a lot of potential so I gave it a shot. My main focus is on the hair anyways, I'm going to go all out detail on it.. and I guess the face too
Nhine and nafa : thanks guys, I'm going to fix what you've said... but it might take awhile now that I put more detail into the picture... update soon...

Good practice, though I would have picked a different photo, it seems very odd that the face seems dead. Not yours, the actual photo. The hair has great texture, and I'd like to see more on this piece. I really like the way you captured the nose.
