hmm i suggest you try something like photobucket for your hosting purposes it seems to have far less confusing url's and allows for easy direct linking. this freeimagehosting crap doesnt really work, like i get a 403 error when i click on the link, only when i seperately copy the url into my adress bar does it show up.
Sign up here http://photobucket.com and watch your linking woes fade away.
Looks pretty good, it's better than what I can paint my friend (though I guess that's not too much of a compliment).
Anyways, like it's been said the proportions are ok.... just need to refine parts of the body with practice in shading/detail work etc...
Keep it up, practice and keep posting.
thank you for the crits,
being a younger artist im just learning to appreciate
the patience and effort each of your works take.
i've made the resolution to complete one of these a day,
and ill try to post them here and take your comments into consideration.
again, thanks for the crits and i look forward to becoming
a part of this community![]()
Might be my browser though. I want to see!
Edit: ah, there we are. Thanks, Rook. To start with, your general proportions aren' too bad. Your hands are rather small though and your forearms are short.
What strikes me though is the way you have shaded your whites. You get props for mixing in some blues rather than using straight up grey, but now your shield and sword appear to be the same materials as your tunic. You might want to use different shades of white to describe metal from cloth, perhaps keep your metals in the cooler color range, and warm up the white tunic with some purple-ish shadows.
Anyone else? ^_^
right, i think it would be a neat idea, to give it a direct lightsource, and you can make all kinds of cool shadows, as it stands everything has an ambient light, and while there are some minor shadows i really think you could push them way further and give them colour. White inherently reflects and is affected by it sorrounding very easily, which is why i would suggest not using a flat black as your background, even if its only soft abstract forms you can use it to your advantage, lets say if your character is bathed in a warm light, a cool background will help pop him out and make him come alive.
As far as your whites go take a look at this And you can really see the difference between light and shadow you can pull off, if you colour pick individual parts itl be a creamy white and a pinkish purple, but together as a whole it reads as a white wall. I hope you get my point, you can really incorporate alot of colour in something as simple as white![]()
