Hello all. I’m a long-time lurker on the CA boards. I actually signed up a few months ago after I was directed here by a friend, and am just now getting round to introducing myself and trying to take proper advantage of the site. Take this as a good indicator of my general rate of progress.

I’ve been drawing, painting and dabbling in various other artistic pursuits since I was a little kid. I’ve always had a certain amount of natural talent, but haven’t had any kind of artistic training since secondary school. Since then I’ve been sketching on and off in an undisciplined fashion, but distractions such as getting a degree kept me from developing my skills in a more organised fashion.

Now I’ve finished my degree and recently come to the realisation that I’d love to use my artistic talents in some sort of professional capacity, hopefully in the field of video games. I’ve also realised that I need to add a whole lot of work to said talents in order to realise that ambition. I wish I’d realised that before I started down the road to a biology degree, but that’s life, I guess.

So this means I’ve decided to buckle down and spend a bit less time on those games I love so much and a bit more time on improving my own creative skills. We’ll see how that resolution holds up. Hopefully encouragement and a bit of pressure from some people who actually know what they’re doing will help me out.
