Hi everyone.
I decided to start a sketchbook here as I think it'll motivate me to keep improving. I've seen a lot of inspiring stuff on these forums and it's great to see an artist's progression.
Any honest critiques are more than welcome.

Some more sketches and pieces from imagination.
i really like some of the creatures you have in the sketches of your first post!
also your colouring is really smooth and nice.
i look forward to seeing more from you!![]()
Photostudy from today. Came out looking like a total shemale hahaCan anyone see why the head is so wrong?
Photostudy i spent ages on today. Still a WIP though. I will try to finish it tomorrow.
1 hour and 30 min study of iron man from today. Focused more on colours.
Your colouring looks really good. I like how you've managed to get a quite "painterly" look from what I guess is digital artwork.
As for the woman in (Greek? Ha, I'm no good at history!) dress I think the shape of her head is too small compared to the photo below. Either that or her hair isn't big enough. I think it's that her hair need to be fuller. Hope that helps!
your studies are great! http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1330277646 with that one I think the problem is that the head is too big, specially her nose, which gives her a quite manly look.
hey nice studiesthe last ironman study coming along very nicely! keep poasting!
oh ich seh gerade du bist ja auch aus deutschland werden ja immer mehr hier![]()
Lagarto: Yes, I think I made the majority of her facial features too big :E Thanks for the compliment though
yah: Na vielen dank. Ich bin tatsächlich erst vor einem monat aus england zurückgekert. Ich bin da grosgewachsen.
third-bear: Thank you, the hair isn't full enough true. That's partly because I gave up after she turned out looking like a transvestite. Thanks nonetheless.
Looking good so far! Nice work on the perspective on Iron Man!![]()
jdem: Thanks. Here's my own first attempt at a landscape study. (difficult)
That's an awesome attempt! i remember my first landscape study. It was awful compared to this lol. Great work keep it up bro
Tom Fenton: Thanks, I'll stick at it
Today was sort of unproductive in terms of digital works so I decided to upload some of my sketchbook stuff. Faces etc. from imagination and a couple of bridgman studies.

your anatomy/people studies are great, do landscape studies at first then use your imagination!Good luck!
Hey nice start here. Keep pushing those studies. They all look pretty good, but some of them seem to be a little off in the drawing department (ie the girl's eye on post number 5).
Keep working and posting!
Thanks for visiting my SB, I like what you're doing here. Your studies have a nice air to them. I would like to see you push your imagination stuff as far as you can. Take yourself back to a childhood state and draw like crazy! Keep it up all together my friend
Stpete: Thanks, your post inspired me to do some more landscape studies this morning
Crazy Pills: I know, I need to put in a lot more head (mainly) and anatomy studies. Thanks for the constructive criticism.
Illogician: Thanks, I often feel like I'm not doing enough imaginative work (feels safer doing studies) so I'll push myself further.
I learned two things today: 1. I suck at values. 2. Colours are hard as hell.
This landscape started as a study from a photograph but somewhere in the middle I stopped using the photo and added some of my own details. I tried to show as much depth as possible with the details i added but the general composition was defined by the photograph.
derr, some silly sketches from tonight.
WIP of another iron man study. Gonna push this one as far as I can.
nice sketchbook
good luck with that ironman study, those reflections look like a bitch to do
I'll be leaving this study here. I realised I wouldn't gain anything from rendering out every reflection since I have already captured the majority of the information.
Had several days struggling with motivation (read: being a bitch), and ended up doing a lot of pencil studies which I'll try to scan in the next few days.
Here's a crap landscape study. Im starting to get back into the flow of things.
Here are the scans of most of the pencil drawings I did within the last few days. The first three sheets are from imagination (hands are drawn from life though) and the rest are loomis studies.
(The last sheet is taken from algenpfleger's idea of working from left to right across the page drawing poses that fit into one another. It was great fun)
More studies. I also have some life drawing from the last few weeks but they are on A3 pages and I can't find a good way to scan them.
Some gesture drawings from artsyposes. I also have tons of 30-60sec gestures but I don't really see the benefit of posting them. Also, I think that's enough spam for one night.![]()
Some landscape studies.
First one was focused on colour (somewhat achieved)
Second one was focused on value (failed)
Master study after FrazettaNo colour picker etc. as always.
Turns out photoshop competely screwed up the colours when saving as a jpg. Don't know what to do. The way it looks as a psd inside photoshop is much closer to the original. I can't even import the jpg of the original file into photoshop without the colours changing.![]()
Sargent study. Colours still coming out oversaturated.
!I have fixed this now but this study is ruined. No more messed up colours from now on.!
You’re doing well! I like the ironman studies a lot.
The light and colors are nice in the landscape and in the woman study.
Good amount of body sketches, those lines are getting better.
Keep it up!![]()
