    Carly's Sketchbook

Hi everyone, I decided to stop feeling so intimidated and post a sketchbook here. I've looked to this community as a lurker for a long time, and I feel it's finally time for me to participate.

I absolutely love digital drawings and fantasy themes, but with my work hours I'm finding a lot less time and motivation to draw. I'm hoping this thread will also help keep me motivated.

Here's are some sketches I did in photoshop, when I don't have the time to render I often go for a soft watercolor look.

Hey! Glad to have you posting here! I like what im seein' so far. The colors on that pony are rich and the first armored girl sure is cute~ I know you said you're really into digital media, but is there any chance you can share some traditional pencil and paper scans? It would definitely help give us a better idea of your strengths and weaknesses since you cant readily undo and fix things infinitely like you can on the computer.

Cool stuff, hope to see more soon!

Thank you!! Here are a few traditional images. The first one is an ink painting, then a pencil drawing, then a marker sketch.

As promised- some pencil/ink sketches!! (Sorry if my posts are timed weird- a few are stuck in moderation.)

I have a lot more, maybe too much more to post! I'll stick to newer drawings.

Thank you!! I used one of the pens from this website: http://www.jetpens.com/Brush-Pens/ct/221?ref=front

I don't think they carry the exact pen anymore, but that place is a secret goldmine of sketching supplies!!

Thank you very much! Once I move in two weeks I'm hoping I can make more time to do some traditional oil portraits. I haven't done one in forever!

Really excellent stuff. I love your linework, especially in the ink drawings.

Your drawings make you seem like one of those people whose sketchbooks are a blast to go through because everything is handled so well. ;_; Inspiring!

Cool sketchbook, I really like the way you use the inks, especially on the eleventh page. Keep up the good work

Thank you for the kind words. I have a few scraps from recent. I haven't been drawing much since I moved.

This tiger was drawn in from start to finish with only sharpies. I just about killed that yellow.

The portrait is just a random person for practice, I'm definitely not satisfied with it though. I need to start breaking up planes with shapes and colors rather than obsessing over rendering.

lately I haven't had much entertainment, the only furniture I have is my computer. I watch a lot of Simpsons after work, so I did a few sketches yesterday.

Thanks! I am a total tumblr addict. I also have a tumblr where I post art I like: http://carlylikesart.tumblr.com

Over the weekend I managed to sketch my boyfriends head while we watched Being Elmo. I'm slowly finding more time to draw, yay!
