First visualization, need help with tidying up

It's the first time in a little while that I've had time to work on some personal projects, and I've been trying drawing/painting some concept art for a short story I have in mind.

Digital painting is somehting I'm prety new to, I'm completely slef-taught and I'e nver attampted anything on this scale before.
WHat your thoughts on the WIP?

Its rather stylised and I am not sure what you want me to say as I dont know what I'm looking at!!

Could you give us some background to the story or concept then we know what direction you are going in, sorry its not clear as yet.

Explanation: to live in an aquatic environment, human are encased in finned enveloped. It's something of a cross between an amniotic sac and a mermaid tail.

I'm writing a short fantasy story set in a world in which the sky is composed of an ocean. If you look at the first image I attached in this reply, you can see me start to work that out. This inverted ocean is populated by the creatures I have designed.
The plot centre around one such creature that has jumped out of the ocean and fallen to earth.
