It looks to me that your references dictate your composition, making the final product feel like a painted photo-montage and lacking freedom. That's too bad 'cause you have good rendering skills.

I second what Smirt says. Break away from reference and interject more illustration into your work and I think it would be infinitely more interesting.

    Great figure skills though!

Have you been to this guys website? I don't think his use of references really dictates his work. Very well done.

    Wow!

I love that smooth shading and there is a lot of nice, fluid, dynamic flow to it all.

    Really great stuff.

In the first image the faces look photoshopped/stamped onto the bodies, they don't feel like a whole. The entire image feels like a photoshopped montage as mentioned earlier. The male's legs and feet look like badly rendered CG. I think you are rendering to a point where you reach this uncanny valley area of shitty CG, which might not be ideal. (being honest!)

On the other hand, that pencil sketch is completely amazing (but you killed the dynamics with overrendering there too imo!) That said, I can see you can draw dynamically and loosely, and you can sure as hell render, try to find a good in-between! Just my 2 cents, don't take it badly! Take care

I'm enjoying your last two posts a lot more than the first two. They feel more genuine and less forced.

As stated before, rendering is quite nice.

    Keep up the hard work.

Love that last one. Lots of character in their faces and the texture is intense. Your subjects don't really interact with each other...they don't seem to exist in the same space and have the quality of a "group". But it doesn't matter in that last one as showcasing the individual qualities of each creature seems to be the point.

Wow, you are very talented! I love how you create a sense of motion in some of these by blurring our the moving parts. Way cool!

That fairy pic is suffering from looking way too posed. You got the poses down but not the overall gesture that looks like it's leading in to another action. It looks frozen, especially the faces.
Also I'm really unsure of what the lighting condition is there. The shadows on each figure make sense, but overall they don't.

I think the first couple images are WAY to clean and rendered, but the work from your imagination is brilliant, I love the last few images, awesome work overall..
