Hey everyone, to start off ill put in a bit of background information. Ive always loved doing things that involved art. I went to art summer programs as a young kid and have taken art classes throughout my high school career. Ive got a pretty good handle with a pencil and ive been developing my sculptural art these past two years. As im an upcoming senior at my school ive been looking around at majors and nothing seems to peak my interest. That is except for a career involved with art. As ive said i have pretty decent abilities and can usually pull off a looker. Yet, its good for the average artist, but not a skilled one. I have the motivation to be a better artist, i just need some help to get me there. I need to find the skill set that i can dig into when i need it. I only have a basic understanding of art theory, which i will need to expand on most indefinitely. Some questions i have are, Will i need a portfolio to get into my school? What kind of requirements are needed? The kind of courses available? Career opportunities? I dont care about salaries because im not in it for the money, im in it for the passion. If someone could give me links or advice on how to start out and be the best i can be that would be awesome. Ive tried searching around, but i figured id ask some real artist instead of finding some blogger of some kind. Any help will be greatly appreciated
