artist getting a girlfriend/boyfriend (through art)

EDIT: this thread is turning interesting: a mod should change the title to "getting girlfriend/boyfriend for ca geeks" or something.
    Original post:
    ----------------------------------------------------
might be really silly to post this on ca but here it goes.
I'm 27, male, regular looking. interests obvious.
    Live in Norrköping, Sweden.
Want a more relaxed relation with a girl. a slight degree of asperger compounded by computer life but rather socially apt anyway.
like the obvious but also musik och composition.
appreciate other peoples interests as long as it's not too much sport or horses etc.

    programming, music, arts etc.

prefferably a busy girlfriend with own artistic ambitions and occupation albeit unemployed amateur (like me) or supporting freelancer is all well.

let's meet and atleast get acquainted.
I can visit stockholm for instance or london

The fact that you post something like that on CA makes you look desperate and therefor puts you at the bottom of the ladder.
Go to places where you might meet people with similar interests (irl I mean), you'll have more success there.

I'm desperately thinking of something extremely witty to say, but I've run dry at the moment, just woke up.

Weirder things have happened folks. I remember flirting going on in the what does EV look like thread, and there WAS a thread where people were posting nude pics of themselves (and hoping that no one would circulate...) I'm only really wondering if it counts as spam. That and if the aspergers mention was the right way to go.

I'm confused... I thought he was just mentioning he has a small case of aspergers and might be socially challenged. I don't think it's wrong to mention that. I'm all for honest relationships.

Honesty is nice, but adding that little detail in there makes it seem a bit more desperate than it needs to. If he's trying to get someone interested I think saving the revelations until after a connection is made would be best.

The hell do i know. tired out of my skull.

Good luck nim. If she's got a friend who for some reason lives in canada who doesn't have an aversion to body hair tell her to roam the wilderness looking for a short, Sasquatch-like creature. I prefer light tranquilizer darts and nets/snares with nylon rope.

You're going about it all wrong, too. Short, hairy, Canadian? "Yo, baby, I'm like Wolverine without the claws."

    OK, maybe not that either.

I gladly will await the day when a man doesn't want the generic cover of every Imagine FX/Exotique and other Fantasy girl books and decides that skin tone diversity is a wonderful thing.

When that guy realizes and recognizes diversity in beauty and sees and likes what I have to offer, I'm keeping him.

I though he wanted a girlfriend with a slight bit of aspergers.
I was like, "Man, how picky and desperate is this guy?"

I'm sorry nim, but you do come of as a little desperate. And what is obvious for you isn't nessesarily obvious for everyone else.
I suggest you try a dating site

Probably would've been better just to add a "(btw I'm single)" to your sketchbook thread title ;D

I would recommend going to some kind of course or something that has your interests to meet more people (and maybe that "special person").

Oh and becoming my mentor to teach that lovely linework in your sketches.

The good? You didn't post this on 4chan. The bad? It probably doesn't belong on CA... >_>

There are much better venues, like those posting above me have said. Match.com, for example.

maybe it's something CA can think about... we have a RL pic thread, why not step it up a notch and add a classifieds section for dating.

BTW I'm being sarcastic. I totally giggled throughout all the comments.

Good luck Nim - not being sarcastic!
    Also - awesome work!

Someone tell Manley to start up an artist social network/dating site.

Well there's already tastebuds.fm, why not something art based? Well, there's DeviantArt.

It'd be pretty easy for a girl to get a date on CA. just go through the "what made you depressed" thread and message all of the lonely guys!

And really Nim, don't listen to the haters. Many times I've thought of making a thread like this but I never had the balls to. I salute you!

Shoot, he's taken care of the educational aspect of being an artist. Partially covered the social aspect. New ground to cover would be romance for the artist.
