    Teen Challenge 117: Defying Gravity

    Topic
This week's topic is Defying Gravity. There is lots to do here, think surreal floating mountains, buildings that physically don't work, flying people, astronauts, whatever!

    Focus--NOW MANDATORY
Focus is a new addition to the Teen Challenges to... well, challenge you a bit more!

This week's focus is a dynamic composition. Make this a crazy picture! Have a really interesting composition, maybe putting the horizon line at an odd angle, but whatever it is don't have a static image!

    Deadline
The deadline is Sunday April 24th, 23:59 GMT

You've got a week from now, so what are you waiting for?!

Ohhhhhhh, damn... I was just gonna take a look at this and then maybe come back for some challenges later, but with a theme like that...

I also like the "focus" addition. Nice touch. <3

    Gah, guess I'll be entering!

EDIT: hmm.. Are short comics allowed as entries?

Don't believe so. Comics are kept more for the Panel Of The Week (POW) competition.

Well to be honest I am not really opposed to a comic entry, although I don't remember ever seeing one for the competition before. I see Teen Challenge as a combination of all the other challenges, restricted to teens, and slightly more illustration based than concept art based. I'm not sure how Aksel (Nyctalgia) sees this though, so won't say yes definitely before talking it over with him.

Well here's mine. It seems like I'll have almost no time to work on it, so I'm calling it done.

Ahh -- first time entering a challenge; two days before the deadline and tons of homework, hnghh...hopefully I'll be able to finish or atleast get something decent out.

Looking for crits. this is the first time in a long time that my linework actually looks like...linework. But I do intend to go with a painted, rendered style, nothing cartoonish; I think I just wanted to get the details down. Looking for any and all critique on the anatomy!

Sapphirelullaby: It looks good! Two things come to mind right away though. First, the foreshortening on his legs looks odd. Especially his far leg, the shin is very short. How it sits in space in unclear. Second thing is that I am not sure what he is looking at. The girl is behind him, so there is no way for him to actually see her the way they are positioned. Hope this helps!

I think you did a great job with his expression, it looks like something out of The Meek! The line of the boot makes a couple of tangents in the far leg and it looks like we should be able to see the cloth on the inside of the collar over the far shoulder.
