Figure drawing for all it's worth reprint?

Just browsed around Amazon and i found this.

Hope it's really going to happen this time, i can't find any details on the publishers homepage about this release so i am a bit worried.

Been wanting to get my hands on this book for quite a while now so it'd be awesooome if it gets released. Having all the Loomis books in print again would be quite a big deal imo.

Also, sorry if this is old news. Searched around but couldn't find anything.

you can get used copys of all his books. I have all 5 hardcopys of loomis's books complete with original jackets. I got them all from 3rd partys used through amazon. it took about 4 months to get all 5 in respectable condition with jackets. I might have been able to find them quicker but i wanted to avoid getting old library books. it hits a nerve for me that people take these from the library and the library looses a piece of history. so i didnt want anyone who stole em from the library to get my money. in any event you can expect to pay around 65-70 bucks per book. maybe 130 for creative illustration.

There just something special about owning these books and being able to sit down and read it properly.

you can find them its just a question of what its worth to you to own a piece of history.

Everyone who wants them can already get these books, but lots of us would actually like to buy a legit, well printed, legal hardcopy that will benefit the publishers, the students and whomever actually owns the copyright to these books this week, can someone just publish them in a limited run, see how they do?

In the meantime, I would suggest looking at local yard sales or estate sales. Perhaps also checking out local libraries, seeing if they firstly have copies and then if they would be interested in selling those copies at any point in the future.

I was fortunate to find my copies of "Figure Drawing for All It's Worth" and "Creative Illustration" at an estate sale (along with a near complete collection of the "Great Books of the Western World" from Britannica, only missing Thomas Aquinas) for about $8 apiece. The former owner, in turn, obtained thoses copies along with several other valuable books from a local library who sold them off in order to afford newer books.

It'll require some digging and patience for certain, but it does happen.

Sadly it's really hard to find Loomis books in Sweden. There is a database of books for all the antique stores in scandinavia and i could only find a single copy of Loomis books. Creative Illustration for 2000sek, which translates to almost 300$

Of course i could import from the US but it gets a bit pricey, and just like Flake says, I want a legit well printed copy. I can only hope they go through with this reprint.

I'm surprised Dover hasn't picked it up by now. They're usually good for reprints of stuff like that.

At IlluXCon a Dover representative said that Dover wasn't able to acquire the Loomis collection, but that a British publisher did, and will probably be releasing them later next year.

Read it first, then buy it if you want. I find Loomis' books on the figure and head to be much more effective combined with Peck, Vanderpoel, Bridgman and Micheal Hampton; you don't find all the answers or the right procedure for you in one single book.

I pre-ordered mine a few months back and just got it in the mail tonight. A big heavy book full of so much wonderful Loomisness. I've only flipped through it so far but I'll probably get a more in depth look soon and maybe post some photos. My wife saw it and was like, "Why do you have a book full of naked provocative women!??" and I was like, "It's for my art," lol. I'm glad I have an understanding wife.

I saw it at Barnes and Noble yesterday. It looks really nice. A little pricey at $40, but I know I'll get it soon.

I checked at the front desk and Drawing the Head and Hands comes out in October. Didn't hear about the rest, but I'm certain we'll get them sooner or later.

Guess I know what I'll be doing this summer.

The Book arrived today and wow it's nice ! I've seen an old copy once through interlibrary loan and Titan's version is every bit as good .So nice to have a nice new copy of this classic that one can actually hold and read through instead of burning out our eyes looking at a computer monitor.Thanks Titan and Indigo Books!

So, I went to a branch of my local favorite bookstore and I squeed when I saw this displayed in one of their step displays. Bought it without a second thought (I was gonna buy The Art of Kung Fu Panda 2).

It's very good. Clear and crisp reprint. Paper seems a bit more yellow but I guess that added more charm to it. I love how the cover's stiff and strong. And it smells like those old Collier Encyclopedias my auntie used to have.

Will be enjoying this in the next couple of days.

It's five bucks. Kindle you can download a reader for about any platform to read it. So if you guys can't afford the hardcover, at least support the ebook version and encourage more ebook versions to come out.

I bought the Kindle version for $4.99 but notice no one bothered to edit the electronic version carefully. There are a lot of miss spellings throughout the book.

Example from the very beginning:

"An Opening Chat

Dear Reader;

For many years ihe uecd of a further book on the subject of figure drawing has been apparent to me."

At least it was under $5. Hopefully Amazon released an updated correct version like the new reprinted edition.
