One of the problems I see is I think if you add more hard edges around the lizard's head and front legs and on the little person. It looks a little too blurry, and adding some hard edges will bring it more to the foreground. Also, I think horizon line is a bit too high. The hind legs should match the angle of the front legs, which seem to be going into the horizon line at a slightly different angle than what you have going on. Overall though, it's a really nice painting and I think this will really help bring out what is working with your painting so far.
thanks a lot, i havent worked on the person yet but i'll try to add more hard edges to the salamander's front , i'm not sure how, but i'll try xP. and definitly i'll lower the horizon line, i have thinked on that too
I don't think that edges are the problem much, you just need to work on your values.
Here's to try and help you out:
A word of advise though, if you are going to draw something lizard-y, be sure to use references from real life. Of course it's a fantasy creature and it will have different proportions to real lizards due to it's size, but you just don't really seem to know what you're doing with the legs. It's as if you guessed from your imagination what they would look like, while it's so easy (and looks a lot more convincing) to just look up a few pictures and draw them as they're supposed to be.
Secondly, try not to use a single colour for your drawing. As much as I love blue, using this colour only for your entire drawing makes it completely lifeless.
nono, it wont be completly blue, i'm using it to work on the values. i wasn't sure about how to do the thigh (not sure if is the right word, the ''beggining'' of the legs, the part that is attached to the body xP) so i'll take your advice there, but about the feet, i do it like that on purpose, but anyway i'll try to do make it look more like a real lizard and compare
thanks for the advices
ok i did it, ahah it really looks better
obviously it isn't rendered yet
