    Talking Tomahawk Monkey Sketchbook

My name's Tom Frobish and I'm a Industrial Design student at RIT.
I kind of just scanned them all at once so there's no particular chronological order. Some are old and others are recent but here's my sketches. Critiques and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

A quick 30 minute speedpainting with Bobby Chiu's Podcast

A Caracture of my Boston Terrier Rufus. I mostly did this as a tribute to Bobby Chiu's Death of a Teddy Bear. It's nowhere near as awesome but I learned a lot from it. Bobby Chiu's style really gave me a lot of inspiration and a very new look on digital paintings and watching his video's is the most inspiring this ever.

Some abstract thing I did while playing around with alchemy, I call it the landscape.

    Just Playing around with Alchemy

Unfinished Summer Glau Portrait, I'll finish it someday. I learned a lot of things from the massive black video about portraits.

    a 35-40 minute speed painting

    A 2.5 hours speed painting

My first finished digital sketch: 3.5 hours

Daily Sketch group Smiley: 2 hours

Good stuff man, welcome to CA. My favorite is the joker chick, and that thing with the handle following her head studies.

Thanks man, the joker chick was something I did after I saw the Dark Knight. I was trying to figure out what a real life Harley Quinn might look like...I don't know haha.

    Red face Monster Thing

Tribute to a funny monster by Ryan Ottley. This my own version of one of his little funny monster drawings.

    Question

Oh yeah definitely dude and thanks for the heads up. I totally understand where you're coming from on that, I've been doing people studies at school in between classes in my notebook and stuff.

Also on studies, do you mainly mean do a lot of life drawings in general? or to focus on certain aspects (like how light affects the hues and saturation of people as they go from florescent to sunlight and so on)?

This is something I drew while at a friends house. We all just decided to pull out some paper and pens and start drawing random stuff so I did Gorilla Power.

Thumbs up Hire This Guy! I Have Worked With Him

    Hello all,
i have worked with Tom in the past for several years involved in high level digital prototyping and design. Tom is a 'total package' when it comes to industrial art marketing, ergonomic/usefulness design, and is quite capable of creating almost anything on his own. His art work is phenomenal, insightful, and it sells! I wish the enterprise we worked together in were still in existence, but Tom has 'evolved' beyond that anyway. I have been a big fan of his art and workpieces...I look forward to him creating really cool (and useful) things for our society in the future! I really like the portrait works-reminds me of a cross between Syd Mead and Ralph Bakshi. S. Burkhart
