Steampunk Idea *New colour version added*

    Hi.

The idea is to create a steampunk hero for a concept.

The initial sketch is below. Whats wrong with it? Also, where Ive put the red circle, im not sure what to put on the big fist. I was thinking some ornate gun of some kind, But I dont see it working too well...any ideas?

    Ok here is the update.

Its usually at this point that I dont know what to do. Obviously the skin and hair needs doing and the shoes etc. But I mean I am stuck at how to go further with what has already been painted. The metal and the clothes.

    Any tips or critiques??

He could have a steam powered crossbow'esque contraption with a big wooden stake in it... combating that pesky Victorian Vampire "problem". LOL!

There is something off about his right (our left) leg. From the folds on the pants I know its supposed to be going backward... but is he putting pressure on it or is it slightly raise? I can't tell... I think a little work on that leg would help the "action" of the pose.

Already thought that concept was somehow familiar.

    0:30-0:32 for the (hydro(hydraulica/hydro-electric/nano))punk concept.

I'd take it you can do the aftermath yourself, good luck!

PS: May i know how u came up with the idea? referrence?

Had a photo of myself doing the pose, as I use myself in all my references. And then decided to do a steampunk idea on it. For practice really.

I see the similarities. But final fantasy wasnt the first to have someone equipped with weapons on his fist. I'll continue with this idea.

    Cheers

Ok next stage. Refied the edges and details a little more. Not sure where to go on the weapon or the background really.

    Tips and criticisms please.

    Ok.

Started to add the crossbow, and painted the face.

I wouldnt mind some tips for painting a little less cartoon-like. And how to add little details, I feel this is where Im falling down more than anywhere else.

Please help me out here, would be much appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.
