    Share your Models(.skp)

Here we can post and share our sketchup models so other members can view.

Why post your models? Because it will aid modelers that are trying to get their brain around some of the in and outs, and tools of the program.

Or, if you are Generous, you could post basic models like... fantasy weapons, guns, etc so people can either build on top of them or use them as help in their illustrations.

    Here we go...

I guess I'll kick this off. I broke into Sketchup tonight and was pretty amazed at how user friendly it is (albeit a tad quirky-jerky here and there.) I'm no stranger to digital programs, but haven't done much 3D outside of a tiny bit of Strata. Still, I sat down and figured out the gist of it in an evening.

I make graphic novels, and I'm interested in adding Sketchup to my workflow for environments which will be modified in pshop.

So this is in prog (do forgive.) The doors were imported from the Sketchup warehouse, as was the jukebox. The building is from scratch and the textures (such as the tiled floors) in the two Sketchup pics are all found in Sketchup. The modified pic with the little guy is just a quick little treatment done in pshop to see where I can take this kind of thing.

I do advise watching the youtube tuts on the Sketchup site. This forum is a great idea, and I, for one, will be following it closely.

This is the first real product i came out of Sketchup with. A Spacecraft of some sort. A small carrier maybe. The fleet grew to have short range fighters and gunships to support the carrier.

This is a claw arm I started making. It was inspired by a Chaos Marine contraption if I remember correctly.

This was a fun one. At work I used to have to deal with the dorm furniture. The talking monkeys that run the housing department didnt think that the rooms next to the elevators, which have more room in them, were good for triples or that it would make any difference compared to a normal room. I was tasked with hauling a bunch of furniture (they were being used as study rooms at the time) into one of these rooms so they could waltz in and see for themselves. Basically I do a bunch of sweaty nasty work so a handful of talking monkeys could look at it for five minutes. It was late in the day, I amde up some story about these other tasks I had, so it would have to wait until the next day. That night I built a scale model of the room and the furniture and brought it into work. "Here you are. you can clearly see that it fits much nicer than it would in a room built for two people. So that settles the argument, I got other shit to do, c-ya."

This was for an indy film I worked on. They wanted a matte painting sort of a thing for a scene the did in front of a blue screen. I decided to built the "set" in sketchup. I thought it would be more fun than a perspective drawing and this way I could tweak angles and things at the fickle directors whim.

    Hey all,

Here's a model that I did while learning the interface. I've attached the sketchup model, so if anybody wants a generic crate for their scene, here it is.
