Spoke in the speed painting thread about your last picture. I think it´s one of the best things I´ve seen fro you so far. I really love the face - it looks natural and not stylized.

    Great progress!

youre work is very professional and youre style is very marketable....youre working with 3D? wha....
You have some serious talent. I think you are already there as far as cocept art goes. If you can do bad ass life drawings you are WELL on youre way to getting a concept job. I envy youre faces! please keep posting
I have a question...do you know if its easier to get a job doing 3D work over 2D work in the game/entertainment industry?

Thats good that you got youre foot in the door with doing 3D while getting a chance to build on youre 2D as well. Im sure you will learn a ton from youre co-workers...sounds like youre working with an awesome team. You sound really dedicated to youre work so im sure you'll do just fine in the industry.
Aww yes now that makes sense that there would be more 3D jobs out there.
I definately agree with you on knowing "the basics". Thats what it all comes down too..I think its how you can expand on those basics that gets you the job.
That first speed painting of the girl is my favorite i like the colors, you nailed that one...youre really pushing youreself with the life drawing stuff. I think thats the most important concept to grasp. Looking forward to more stuff =)

Wow speedpainting044.jpg is probably my favorite so far!
    Stunning!

Somehow I want the boots to be more shiny but it is great as it is.

And thanks for sharing the process!

I really love the concepts but if you don't mind my suggesting, I think that you should try doing some clothing with more varied themes. Everything is sorta modernized or futuristic and it would be cool if you had some more traditional designs. Keep up the good work though, your characters are great.

Your colourwork is getting steadily better - the transitions are getting smoother and the colours don´t seem to be thrown together anymore. Hope I made sense . Really good work!

I saw that pig in Suijin when you mentioned the Speed painting there. ^^ Its awesome. Nice expression on its face, and I think it came together really well. Like everyone else said you keep getting better as you go along.

Always like your figure drawings, they are so fluid and realistic. mucho beautiful. Someday Ill catch up to ya!

i enjoy your digital painting sketches. is there any good tips to be aware of for blocking in color like you do? - i have not really activly persued such a study, i will have to. you have inspired me to dabble on this technique, it is a very different way than i work.

when you create a painting like this, are you going all over the place? - or are you growing from areas, how i tend to work.

a problem i think i have is that i will start in one area, paint and paint and define, and then it will spread from that point like a spider's bruise. what makes me think this is a bad way of doing things is because it takes control from me - everything i am painting is set in detail and i dare not paint over it. i have bad judgment, not knowing where to go, knowing well is enough, and when i need to push an area.

my questions are always vague, its hard for me to think of questions when i want to talk.

awesome steps xia. though you break it down simply i know how hard it really is....

thanks for the walk through though!!

    colour is great

    love your latest painting.

you dont have to finish them always, that would be no fun! who needs nitty details anyways unless u want a finished piece, though its finished with a blotch of paint if u want it to be.

keep up the paintings i love these!

Man your work is really cool...I'm just starting to work in digital painting, still trying to find my bearings.
I'm guessing these are done in painter?
    what brush(s) do you favor?

very kind of you, i love looking at your steps in these paintings and seeing how much freedom you have throughout your process. this was very enlightening. i appreciate you taking the time to share your process with me and others - i love seeing these - i see in your paintings selflessness and patience, which i aspire for. for how long you stay thinking about the relationships in your painting meks me think about how much thought i put in these aspects of paintings (which is barely at all).

    cool.

xia, I'm by no means an anime "fan" but your angels look very nice. I admire how you achieve a proper looking anatomy with so few lines.

Your self portraits are also full of character.

As for the paintings, yes, it's hard and you still have a way to go - however, looks like your getting there. Ever thought about blending the tones a bit more?

man, I'm so envious of you're gesture life drawings, I've definitely got to make my mind and join some drawing session. The selfportraits are great too.

btw, are you working on your thunderdome?

damn xia, these are looking reeeeally good.
your detailed paintings are awesome, but your gesture thumbs of the figure are great. There is alot of movement and intesity from only a few lines.
