Spartan Camp #18 - 50 gestures + Optional Study of the foot

The aim is to produce 50 gestures by Sunday the 11th of November.

The gestures can be of anything, human, animal, cavorting capybaras....and can be in any media, digi or traditional is fine.

In addition to this, participants can choose to do a study of the foot, in any media. Black and White or Colour is fine.

Come on soldiers! Flex those muscles!!

PS...critting each other is highly encouraged!! Let's help each other get better!

First time Spartan here, so I hope I am in line with the instructions. All gestures except a handful based on Bridgman, nothing longer than 2-5 mins. There are by my count 59 total all done between Monday and this morning, and I'll add a foot study tomorrow a.m.

Anthis - looking good man. nice foot studies too. Unfortunately i want not able to make it last nite. maybe i'll do it tonite and post it anyway.

Euthyphro; Welcome on board! Nice Bridgman stuff. I'm planning to buy the complete guide to drawing from life (think thats the one with the 3 books combined). It's pretty good for practicing anatomy. Nice job on the sketching, well readable. Only thing I'm not sure about is the pointy fingertips you often see with bridgman. Hope to see you next time!
MeTaL-Mike; Going good with the faces. You seem to achieve more with fewer lines. Some good faces with alot of expression in them. You seem to be heading in a bit of a cartoony direction. I noticed you used to draw "lifelike" faces before though. Not really a crit.. just a feel. What kind of ref are you using? Good thing you're adding variation in head shape, fat, etc.

Anthis - it's really funny actually. when i was drawing from ref i tried to go are realistic as possible, but am drawing without any ref's for a while now (the heads) and they automatically come out cartoony

HAHAHAHA i find that so weird man.

Practicing heads and faces also at the moment, though I'm not that far. Find it a pretty damn hard topic... Without ref, I'm deviating too. Don't really get a cartoony look though. Think the main issues in yours are that the features are getting too big (nose, eyes, mouth, etc) compared to the head. A few got really short foreheads too. They do have great expression though. Should get back to my own head practice ;|

yeah that's right, i just can't help exadurating the features, i guess i kind of like it too :d. i have some issues with foreshortening but hope i'll get a hang of it someday. Heads are a difficult topic but try hands man, then you're in for a horror man, hahaha. can't wait to see your for the new one this weekend.
