I'm on Etsy, do we have a group on there? If not I think we should start one. There was an Ebay/Etsy thread earlier and it sounds to me like conceptart.org hasn't really broken onto the scene on etsy yet, which to me would be really exciting, especially if we extended the community out that way.

Anyways I just started up and have found the site to be alot easier to use than Ebay, and much much cheaper.

I'm not the biggest fan of Etsy due to the cut that they take, but most importantly the lack of customization for their store.

If you are happy with Etsy, by all means stick with it, but I know a lot of people are not aware of Storenvy. No charges for having your store and no cuts out of your sales. It just requires the paypal account for a customer to buy (which is the same as Etsy, I believe?), and it's easy to customize the colors to match your website.

Etsy obviously gets points for the amount of users that they have from a consumer point of view so it's easy to browse. But as an artist, I have found Storenvy has suited my needs better.

Give it a look over if you are looking into stores!

Etsy is making a lot of silly changes, and turning into some-sort of facebook. It seems like most of the views people get on there come from other sellers, rather than buyers.
I would second the storenvy suggestion, I have heard good things about it.

I tried the Etsy shop for a while. It's okay. Some artists do pretty well on it. I decided that it was better to have a website with links to Paypal accounts.

The hardest part of Etsy was that there are a LOT of people on it. Plus, the price range for a lot of the stuff is below the price for my prints and original oil paintings.

However, it's not bad to try out and see if it works for you. It's fairly easy to set up a shop and get going.

Storenvy sounds very cool, thanks for the tip. I do not like having so many restrictions on Etsy with what I can sell, and it looks like Storenvy doesn't have a lot of those stupid rules, and also the cost is way better. Oh and you can change your storename later. I never got why Etsy had such a brick up their ass about this.

Since it seems to be a new startup idea, I am going to go ahead and assume it's not going to be such a good deal in the future. I can't see them being able to maintain prices that low forever. Hopefully I'm wrong but we'll see.

I really just need a place to store my stuff and have a storefront to point people to when they ask to "see more" or shop - seems like I have so much art floating around and don't really want or need it.
